People want to come to the U.S. regardless of the legality of their move. I can see the Democrat's position somewhat in that we need to grow the population to increase SSI contributions AND suppress wages. On the other hand, I understand the Republican's desire to reduce the admittance of criminal illegal aliens. We need to increase green cards issued to Central and South Americans BUT screen them prior to entry.

What about the fact some cultures just aren’t compatible with ours? Or aren’t we allowed to have our own?

As far as I know. legal immigrants are not being prevented from entering this country. The border checkpoints are all open and many thousands cross back and forth every day. But some people choose to sneak in just hundreds of feet away from the checkpoints. Care to guess why someone would enter a country illegally when they could cross through a check point much more easily?

We should only allow immigrants to come here legally that have skills and an educated not the type who are crossing our border illegally with no skills, no education and are poor who can only work low waged jobs as they are a tax burden on our society.

Why? When are they going to start paying for themselves, become a net positive? It's been almost 40 years since Reagan signed that bill and we are still using massive amounts of tax money to support them, over $100 billion each year...and that amount will probably rise since there's many millions more of them being allowed to come into this country. The amount they pay in taxes is a pittance compared to what they cost the taxpayer every year.

The ones that are a net positive are the well-educated legal immigrants who often come from first world countries and who come here the right way. We would be much farther ahead if we stopped throwing a hundred $$ billion plus every year down a dry hole, and send the takers home, and started incentivizing well-educated young parents with families, or those who are planning a family, to come here.

We need them because who else wants these kind of jobs. And if they receive a paycheck then they pay taxes just like the rest of us.

Who says we need to grow the population?

The earth and the US are too crowded as it is.

Sorry. We're full. Go away.

Americans would do those jobs if the wages weren't suppressed by the availability of cheap laborers with no recourse in the case of mistreatment. Why would you want poor people from other countries to be subjected to what amounts to slavery? Do you hate immigrants that much?

Illegal aliens are not making enough to pay any significant taxes, and most aren't receiving a paycheck. They get paid in cash, if they actually work. Otherwise they're a tax drain.

Have any statistics to back that up? I have heard this for years, but is there any actual data that supports this?

If they are paid in cash then we should be going after that employer. And yes most are receiving paychecks. How many Americans do you know lining up to work on a farm, or being maids at hotels. We need them because no American wants these jobs. Many are to lazy for this hard work.
