Physically harder than an office worker, for sure. I remember the days of 8 to 10 hour shifts walking on greasy floors, and being on my feet the majority of the time. And your skin just gets oily from all the cooking, and the smells just permeate into your hair and clothes. I was lucky, i didn't work in a true FF setting, i was a cook in a Big Boy restaurant.
That was bad enough, and is what drove me to want to better my life , and not have to work at jobs like that any longer than i had to.

Minimum wage was about $1.65 an hour. Bag boy at the supermarket was an actual job. For most women they would carry your groceries out to the car for you, you even tipped them 25 or 50 cents.

I was pretty young when they went out of business, but I do remember that Carrolls had the best burgers.

I do laugh at the gal who got the raise....but now wants the state to mandate their hours as protected.

Meanwhile, they'll just fire the less productive workers, automate, cut store hours and just use the drive-thru etc. etc. etc.

The big problem though is that a lot of places in CA were already paying 17-18. what about the more rural lower cost areas that were paying 14? One size fits all for a big state...hmmm.
It's a terrific lesson for all.

I've worked in information technology all my life. All of these positions will be gone in 10 years. Maybe all these people should take advantage of all Biden's freebies and get an education. Either that, or they're going to be sitting around on their ass in a trailer having babies waiting for the check to come every month.

This isn't a Federal issue. This is a state issue.

That's why it's minimum wage.
So who works the minimum wage jobs while kids are in school?

Like that will stop the President from protecting his flank in the largest state.
