None of those things are the reason you have to pay for your own stuff.
What is your suggestion for people who can't pay $1500 per month for health insurance? That's what decent insurance costs, perhaps more depending on location.

Wow, Vlad Lenin would have loved you.

I don't know about you but I LIKE PROFIT BASED HEALTHCARE. We have 100x better quality than any other country. Why would you want to dumb it down?

SOMEONE has to do all the R&D and make all the medical innovations for the world.
US healthcare is not 100 times better than any other country. We have worse outcomes for more money than any Western country. Healthcare spending in the US is 17% of GDP. Germany and France spend around 12% of GDP, and that is considered high.

I refuse to go to a for profit hospital, since their bottom line is enhanced by charging me more orr providing subpar care.

We absolutely can't afford NATIONAL insurance subsidizing a medical establishment that is overpriced and unsustainable. We can't even afford to pay our own insurance out of pocket.

The medical establishment needs to crash under it's own weight. We need to eliminate insurance and return to a free market medical system that has to compete and justify its expense. Under the "no one should have to pay anything" no one can afford what it costs.
Can you afford to pay out $200,000 for cancer care in a single year without insurance?

When you are screaming in pain from a ruptured appendix, are you going to take the time to find the best priced care?

We really should not call it "insurance". The question is how do we best provide health care for all Americans.

And how about that food pyramid
Selling rotten meat and poisonous drugs occurs far less now than before the FDA was created.

The biggest issue with the food pyramid is that the US is horrifically short of good carbs. If people ate whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and used good oils, the food pyramid would be fine. However, most carbs in this country are terrible highly processed crap.

More than likely you go to the hospital that is closest or most convenient for you. Or your doctor recommends. Or your insurance dictates. The most important item is the quality and experience of your inpatient doc.

It really comes down to priorities and the health of US citizens isn't a top priority, the above things are deemed more important so they get done.

Shouldn't we demand more of our elected officials to spend some of that money at home here on taking care of our wellbeing?

We dont have money for any of that. Or nationalized healthcare.

Sure there is. Fauci funded the CCP's gain-on-function research in the Wuhan lab. Then, he lied to try to cover it up, but Rand Paul outed him. Then, fed govt Docs in the NIH, CDC, & NAID took bribes (aka Research Grants) from Big Pharma to play along with the fake vaccines.

The U.S. gov't is not your friend. They over tax & over spend, re-allocate peoples earnings, & kill Millions of people. They cause bubbles, inflation, recessions, wars, pandemics, & supply chain disruptions.

The more the feds get involved in something, the worse it becomes...like education, immigration, the social security Ponzi scheme, & healthcare particularly...like the VA, and Medicare.

The postal service, the IRS, the corrupt DOJ & FBI, Solyndra and the Billions they wasted on Green energy firms that went bankrupt, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Gaza snooping on our bank records, manipulating social media, influence peddling, pay-to-play, campaign finance fraud, insider trading, corp bailouts of the S&L's after they forced the banking industry to give no doc loans to unqualified borrowers which led to the Great Recession. Bailing out GM's pension funds, while stiffing Bondholders.

I could go on for days of all the ineptitude of the leadership in the federal gov't. No way do I want them anywhere near my healthcare.

Boy, it's a good thing Obama reduced medical costs though, right? Millions are still w/o coverage, & they can't afford it even with the subsidies...and we did NOT get to keep our Doctors or Insurance that 80% of us were happy with...all lies.

How could any intelligent rational American want more of the same failure, while putting their own lives at risk?

But why is that care $200,000? That's the whole point of that poster's comment.
