Deport these invaders and lock up this treasonous admin. A 10 year minimum prison sentence for these politicians would do wonders for foreign invasion numbers.
Also arrest sanctuary city mayors and governors immediately.
So he wasn't fired in favor of illegals. He was let go because he was a drain on city resources making a firefighter salary and benefits while not being able to actually perform the function. He isn't the first and won't be the last let go in this way. The city will only allow you to be strung along on light duty for so long before it's obvious that you can't perform the tasks for which you were hired.
5000%!!!! He should have never been hired in the first place after having a heart attack in the academy. It's NOWHERE close to what the actual job entails. He was let go because he cannot perform his duties as a FF and they don't need to continue to pay him to be a desk clerk at a FF salary.
People are trying to stir shyt up when nothing is there. Facts are facts.

Was he receiving a FF salary while on desk duty? Link?
Other than that, someone has to work at the desks and if he was capable enough to do that then why not him?

"Light Duty" means you keep your title/salary and it is supposed to be temporary because of an injury, etc. Otherwise, if it is permanent there's this thing called disability retirement.
The guy who died had his first heart attack in 2019 in his early 30s ...before covid and before covid vaxxes. Meaning: he already had heart disease and compromised health. Being fired did not cause his heart disease. Someone who has a heart attack in their early 30s is really in a bad health situation.
I have nothing against people from foreign nations, in general. But this illegal alien thing is going to end badly if Calamity Joe keeps letting them come in and keeps bilking the LEGAL CITIZENS of this nation to pay for the illegal aliens' living expenses, housing, car, etc, etc, etc. People are only going to take so much of that BS. At some point it will come to a head and bad things will happen. I'm sure Calamity Joe Incorporated knows this. In fact, they are likely trying to get it to happen. But they may be biting off more than they can chew.

But the question was, who paid it? NYC, or workers comp, or both?
I'm sure it depends on the states laws and maybe if the job is union or not. But apparently the employer paying the full salary is not always the case. It's possible that it wasn't NYC who was paying him his full salary, maybe part of his salary had come from NYC and the rest would have come from workers comp. If so, then NYC did not "continue to pay him to be a desk clerk at a FF salary" as that other poster had said.
1. Light-Duty Jobs Can Threaten Your Workers' Compensation Claim
If you are offered a light-duty job, it can affect your workers' compensation claim—whether you accept or decline the new role. Here's why:
If you accept the light-duty job and:
*The wage you earn is the same or more than what you made before your injury, your payments for lost wages will stop.
*The wage you earn is less than what you made before your injury, you will receive lost-wage payments—but they will be in the form of partial disability benefits.
*If you are offered an appropriate light-duty job and you decline to accept it:
Your employer can petition a judge to modify, and in some cases, even terminate your workers' compensation benefits.
What does his vax status have to do with it? Nothing!
It could be the vaxx that killed him. From that aspect it would have everything to do with his being fired and subsequently dying. Except that he had a heart attack in 2019 which was before the vaxx but still, the question of his vaxx status is valid - it just doesn't seem to be the answer. At least, I don't think it is. Although, I had chest pains for two years following the vaxx. But no, to me the fact that he had a heart attack in 2019 indicates that he had general health issues.
