That didn't take long.

How long will we continue to be suckers for this?

- or -

They are trying to get a reaction out of this where we stop giving to this nonsense, which then triggers a response that they can blame on the U.S. for not giving them every last printed dollar that we have.

Ukraine’s $61 bln lifeline is not enough

Ukraine last week got a vital $61 billion lifeline from the United States. But it still needs a medium-term funding plan to withstand Russia’s onslaught. Mobilising Moscow’s frozen central bank assets to provide compensation for war damages should be central to this.

...
A multi-year funding plan, by contrast, would have several benefits. For a start, it would provide some insurance against U.S. political swings. It would also boost Ukrainian morale and give Western arms manufacturers greater confidence to ramp up production.

Oh - OK - I see where this may be going. This may be about insulating funding if Trump is president. That makes sense from THEIR perspective.

While this will help, it will not be a game changer because it will fund Ukraine for less than half a year. Getting Kyiv $320 billion, however, would be a different proposition. That would finance the war until at least the end of 2028.

What??? the end of 2028??? OMG

I wouldn't be surprised if Russia is getting a big cut just to make it play out.

Would definitely explain why Russia declared a ceasefire when Biden visited Ukraine. Or that Biden could ever even feel safe at all literally visiting Ukraine.

If you spent $100 every minute, it would take 19 years, to reach a billion dollars.

Realize the interest on a billion dollars nets millions more in interest.

61 billion dollars???????????????????????????????? fantasy land.

after a year in a savings account, 1 billion dollars @ .5 earns, 5 million dollars

So where does the government keep the billions of conscripted taxpayer cash?

This isn't just about military aid(actual weapons and ammunition) it financial aid to keep that regime, processes, policies propped up. They were a corrupt relatively young country that had yet to find secure/solid footing. Ukraine is a nation building exercise at this point. Not rebuilding.

Anyone with a brain knew that this most recent $61,000,000,000.00 would not win the war and Ukraine would be back for more.

How much Kyiv needs in future depends on what sort of war it fights. A defensive campaign would cost less than an attempt to expel Russia from large chunks of land.

Are they still determined to take Crimea back? Because that ain't happening.

Ukraine is mired in an unwinnable war. The longer we fund it, the more die.

So, why are we doing it? Because most of the cash is laundered through defense contractors, who provide legit war fighting goods/services, but then some % is kicked back to the Elite in DC...either by Ukraine, or the defense contractors, or both. Of course it goes through a web of shell corps, offshore accounts, & 3rd party actors.

We got a clear view into that world of corruption, thanks to the Biden family crime syndicate, & act of Congress, and the support of the courts who revealed it...but nothing happened anyways...yet.

It's an ugly scheme to steal money from the American taxpayers (current & future), & feed the military mechanism that makes it all possible.

We are all being played by the top 1% & the DC swamp. Where do I sign up to get into their club?

Oh, that's right..."politics is a club...and you ain't in it" - George Carlin

The Ukraine slush fund for redistribution of wealth to the 1-percenters and their ilk has nothing to do with noble efforts to save Ukraine.

Just look at how much other countries have contributed. And yet our border disaster only get's $20 billion from this last bill.

The majority of committed support by country has come from the United States, whose total aid commitment is valued at about $75 billion. The U.S. is followed by Germany and the United Kingdom for highest commitments overall. The European Union as a whole has committed approximately $93 billion in aid to Ukraine.
