Indeed, why?

The Great Republic didn't see a debate between nominated party candidates until 1960 with the Kennedy/Nixon debates. The next such debated didn't happen until 1976 with the Ford/Carter debate. That's only 13 out of the 59 US Presidential elections that had debates.

If debates are so important, please show me where on this forum you opined that both Donald Trump and Joe Biden should have debated their rivals within their own political parties during the primary election season.

But they *are* probably going to have at least one debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Feel free to wait to cast your ballot until after it has occurred.

Quote:
Don't forget, seven hundred thousand Pennsylvanians cast their 2022 ballot before the debate between Dr. Oz and Mr. Fetterman. That was an earth shattering debate, as that was the first time many voters had seen just how incapable Mr. Fetterman was.
Where those 700K Pennsylvanians forced to cast their ballots prior to the Fetterman/Oz debate?

Do you have any actual proof that these Pennsylvanians wanted to change their votes?

Does Pennsylvania do like Michigan does, allow a voter to recast their early ballot prior to Election Day if they so choose? Wouldn't that be a better solution? It would not only cover the situation of a bad debate showing, but also handle the unfortunate events of a candidate's death, incapacity, or incardination.

Quote:
How can that be fair?
How can it not be fair, if voters wait to cast their ballots or if voters are allowed to amend their ballots before election day?

Quote:
How can free and fair elections have voting take place before the time honored tradition of debating one's opponents?
Time honored tradition? As I pointed out...not really.

American voters deserve to see both Presidential candidates debate side by side on their records, & plan for America's future.

Lara Trump is 100% accurate about this, & if Biden's handlers won't agree, then that needs to be made nationally known to every American voter.

Here is the debate schedule for this year:
https://deadline.com/feature/2024-pr...le-1235523892/

The presidential debates are scheduled for Sept 16, Oct 1 and Oct 9.

I don't know when the first early voting is allowed, but I would be surprised if any of it came before Oct 9.

It looks like a few states do send out early mail-in ballots in early September, but most start much later.

Presidential debate commission defends schedule after Trump campaign pushes for new dates
Quote:
The overwhelming majority of states will not have started mailing out absentee ballots by the first debate. While a handful of states start mailing absentee ballots in early September, most begin sending them within a month and a half of the election, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Election Day this year falls on Nov. 5.

"As it always does, the CPD considered multiple factors in selecting debate dates in order to make them accessible by the American public," the commission said. "These factors include religious and federal holidays, early voting, and the dates on which individual states close their ballots."

"The CPD purposefully chose September 16 after a comprehensive study of early voting rules in every state," the commission added, noting that the September debate will be the "earliest televised general election debate ever held."

We all know about both candidates. It would add nothing. And worse, it would just devolve into another political crap show and circus, which we already have way too much of these days.
Maybe you do but the casual consumer of mainstream news does not know that biden is a barely walking fetid corpse who needs cue cards and a teleprompter to read the answers to "questions" posed by "journalists"..the general public should see that their leader is nothing but a short-circuited Roomba..

We always have debates and we know they will pump Biden full of meds and caffeine and we will end up with State of the Union Biden and the liberal media will say Biden won.

I am more excited about the vp debates

And the casual consumer of right-wing news does not know that Trump is a sociopath suffering from dementia who can no longer speak in coherent sentences, can no longer pronounce many simple words and can't even correctly read a teleprompter at all lately. So the general public should see that the president's opponent is a mentally ill criminal who will be lucky to make it to his 80th birthday. When Biden wipes the floor with Trump in the debates, that will become clearly obvious.

I think people's minds are made up already, we don't need a debate, at least I don't.
Trump is not capable of participating in a debate. He showed that last time, when he constantly interrupted both his opponent and the Moderator. He just doesn’t have the mindset to listen to criticism and respond intelligently. He’ll either blow up and storm out, or fall asleep like he did in court.

I feel sorry for you with your TDS. Must be nice to wear rose-colored glasses and see what you only want to see.

Fact: When Trump is in court every day it's not aired on TV so no one here knows if he fell asleep or not. That's just a rumor based on gossip. But if CNN or MSNBC tells you that you probably believe it.

Was it Trump who fell down stepping up? Oh yeah, that wasn't him it was the guy with dementia who the WH is always correcting. Come on Man! And Trump didn't hide in his basement if I recall correctly. He was out campaigning and holding rallies.

I don't know what world you're living in but it's not the real world.

Last but not least Wallace makes no secret of hating Trump and wouldn't let him speak. He was all in for Biden, the worse moderator ever.
