Oooh look! A sitting Congressman indicted on suspicion of corruption. And it's a member of the same party as the President! Could it be the rule of law in action?

Rep. Henry Cuellar Indicted

I look forward to seeing the investigation play out and let the chips fall where they may. If these allegations prove out he should be nowhere near the halls of Congress.

He did exactly what Biden is doing, but he made the mistake of going there in person instead of sending his son like Biden did.

So, why then, is Biden not indicted?

Sounds very much like, on a smaller scale, what the Bidens are accused of doing.

Maybe once elected to Congress, many of them think it's perfectly OK to do such things.

Interesting, I will have to wait and see what they have for evidence. He really did go against Biden on the border, so it is probably political payback. Who knows.

Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar and wife indicted over ties to Azerbaijanon

From 2014 to 2021, Cuellar and his wife accepted nearly $600,000 in bribes from an Azerbaijan-controlled energy company and a bank in Mexico, and in exchange, Cuellar agreed to advance the interests of the country and the bank in the U.S., according to the indictment.

Among other things, Cuellar agreed to influence legislation favorable to Azerbaijan and deliver a pro-Azerbaijan speech on the floor of the U.S. House, the indictment states.

The Department of Justice said the couple surrendered to authorities on Friday and were taken into custody.

The longtime congressman released a statement Friday saying he and his wife, Imelda Cuellar, “are innocent of these allegations.”

“Everything I have done in Congress has been to serve the people of South Texas,” Cuellar said. “Before I took action, I proactively sought legal advice from the House Ethics Committee, who gave me more than one written opinion, along with an additional opinion from a national law firm.

“Furthermore, we requested a meeting with the Washington D.C. prosecutors to explain the facts and they refused to discuss the case with us or hear our side.”

Hmm...

Seems like another day in the neighborhood for most politicians.
