Yeah - we aren't going back to those days anymore... and that may not be a bad thing with regards to the edgy movies you mentioned.

The problem is woke-ism is now a money making industry (thru gov't grants) and can be used for cultural leverage against perceived enemies.

Toxic is an accurate description. They don't hit grown ups with it... they hit young folk with no life experience.

The people who promote Woke are those who are being paid to push it, and people who are on the outer fringes of morality - like the drag queens in the schools.

CRT is clearly garbage, just a three to five minutes review of the highlights and you know it's crap. DEI is a little more disguised, but it's garbage too.

The equity part when put into practice clearly, I mean clearly, violates the 1964 civil rights act. It's why many large corporations are slowly dialing it back. DEI officer hires are down 60%, from what I've heard. It's loads and loads of potential lawsuits just waiting to happen, anyone with any basic understanding should be able to see it for what it is.

The country is in the midst of a massive social contagion, but I think we might be starting to finally see it.
DEI is being dialed back because it doesn't really profit the companies, and the majority of the people in the U.S. are still rational minded and don't want the nonsense.

It's easy to hate when you are being paid to hate.

I thought this was on the money.

If you don't understand the roots of why people think capitalism is evil, this is it.

All of his economic analysis is about "how are we building man at present?" through what he called material determinism. And he said, "Well, what we have is a special form of private property in our society. Our society is organized around private property. So all of our thoughts organized around private property."

In other words, there's a special kind of property that the bourgeois elite class has access to, and then they organize society to exclude everybody else from access to that property through exploitation, through alienation, through estrangement, through oppression. And so what Karl Marx was proposing is that economics becomes a vehicle to separate society into a bourgeois class that has access to a special form of property. The people who have access wish to retain that. So they oppress people and keep other people out of that special form of property. They erect a system of classism to do that. It's enforced by an ideology called capitalism that believes that this is the right way to engage in the world. And what we have to do is, is awaken the underclass, the proletariat to the real conditions, and the fact that they are historical agents of change. And bring them to do a revolution and transform society so that we would have equity or socialism.

The lie of how capitalism is described above is based on the premise that it pretends that these classes of people are from designed intent - which is totally not the case.

In capitalism, economic classes of people happen organically based on the temperament, the work habits, the family connections, and the business savvy of each individual. There is no designed intent. If you want to work hard and earn more money, you can do that. If you don't want to work hard, you have the freedom to do that. But then don't blame and penalize others because they have plenty and you don't. At any time, a person can choose to change course and change their outcome.

If there is any designed intent to create an economic barrier between classes, it's through socialism/communism. There is little incentive to work and earn for yourself, because it is taken away and given to others. The rich class are those who are the authoritarians who run the system.

I've got to ask. Have you studied Marx and his work much?

DEI is a waste of money.

It is one of the first things to go when a company makes cuts.

I work for a large ridiculously woke corporation and I can see the shift happening. All of the internal emails regarding DEI type stuff is now called something else, they've pulled out all of the DEI specific wording and now say something like cultural hub or some similar type of stuff but definitely scaled back, again, I think the lawsuit potential is there and a lot of companies are aware of that.

I mean it's absurd when you get to it, so.... we're going to pick winners and losers based on nothing more than skin color or plumbing? You put a gay black woman in front of the line over a straight white hetro male for nothing more than skin color.

I mean just typing that out you realize just how incredibly wrong it is, it's bad for many reasons.

Some. Haven't read Das Kapital cover-to-cover, I confess. Having grown up in Europe before the fall of Communism, I most certainly have encountered Marxists and Marxism enough to last me a lifetime. Not a fan.

The point is, while there are plenty of relevant criticisms that can be directed at Marxism - particularly once it abandons the analysis of unbridled capitalism as present in Marx' era - most people in this thread seem to have a fairly hard time distinguishing between actual Marxist developments in the US political climate - if any are to be found - and everything else they just don't like.
