A particular striking example is BYD. It has built many new factories in the past 3 years and they are all very automated. Most recently, BYD invited people to come with its Hefei plant. This plant has 1200 welding robots and is 97% automated!
..
BYD uses AGVs, robots and intelligent warehousing to achieve maximal efficiency. That is a common theme among all the articles of BYD plants. AGVs to move things around, robots to do all the assembly, welding, screwing and painting and intelligent warehousing to provide all the needed parts.
It wasn't bickering so much as I was correcting a mistaken statement-that Chinese factory workers were paid $25/hour.

Go figure.

Oh I found the amount of subsidy they got from China...$3.7 billion.

We gave Ford, GM and Chrysler $15.5 billion.

I think China came out ahead since their subsidy generated big profits.
Our subsidy (3x what China did) generated losses... Ford, for example, lost $36K per EV sold.
I think the tariffs are just an excuse to buy time. Naturally China can produce cheaper than the west and people would rather buy from them. China is destined to what happened to Germany and Japan.

Coal and cheap energy made the west great places to develop and live. That is why the rules need to keep changing, so others don't catch up. And so we have climate change and all the policies that come with it.

I am just wondering how long this will go on: attacking Chinese companies like Huawei, the car industries, etc. We know where it ends. A war the kind we have never seen before to destroy the competition and finally reconstruct in US terms. Of course we will never hear the truth, I can already see the propaganda. The fight is against an aggressive and evil state lead by the ccp, and it is our duty to stop them and show them our democratic values.

yet lyin' xoe kept the trump tariffs. seems odd.
Just two weeks or so ago Dems were slamming Trump for saying he'll do some of the things Biden is looking to do now.

There definitely seems to be a lot of conflicting information. I find it a stretch that the average salary in China is $50k.

This article states that one of the highest paid occupations doesn't even make that, much less the average.

Chip Engineers continue to be the highest-paying occupation, earning an average of ¥26,000 RMB ($3,617 USD)/month.

The COL in China is is much lower than the US.
They can actually live on less money.

Biden fired the first shot and China shot back....they are dumping treasuries.

https://mishtalk.com/economics/is-ch...tis-uncertain/
China sold a record amount of Treasury and US agency bonds in the first quarter, highlighting the Asian nation’s move to diversify away from American assets as trade tensions persist.

Beijing offloaded a total of $53.3 billion of Treasuries and agency bonds combined in the first quarter, according to calculations based on the latest data from the US Department of the Treasury. Belgium, often seen as a custodian of China’s holdings, disposed of $22 billion of Treasuries during the period.
