D.C. police will seal off entire neighborhoods, set up checkpoints and kick out strangers under a new program that D.C. officials hope will help them rescue the city from its out-of-control violence. Under an executive order expected to be announced today, police Chief Cathy L. Lanier will have the authority to designate “Neighborhood Safety Zones.”
this is not the first thing D.C. has done that upsets the rights of the individual outlined in the constitution. May I say gun ban? which from the looks of these articles is defiantly NOT WORKING
ohh. and after Katrina, the cops went door to door down in new Orleans and confiscated law abiding citizens arms. We are in some scary times.
Washington DC is run by liberals on steroids. I've lived in the area about 4 years and i've never seen such a poorly run city. Sad that it is our nation's capital. Last friday, 7 people were murdered in 8 hours east of capitol hill, all by gunfire. Clearly, their gun ban is not working.
I encourage DC residents to enforce their 4th amendment rights and not let any Washington DC law enforcement inside their residence without a detailed search warrant.
Somebody apparently failed to tell the criminals that owning or carrying guns was improper behavior.
Homeland Security = GESTAPO
Security is more important than freedom or responsibility. A free and responsible people are a threat to the security of the rulers. That must never be allowed. Just ask them.
PS: the rulers of Washington DC are not, and never have been, LIBERAL. They are frightened elitists trying to protect their privilege.

Sadly, I expect this might be included in the part where they arrest people for not obeying a police officer.
What a bunch of ill informed sideline quarterbacks
1. The police aren't searching houses or even pedestrian.
2. Traffic roadblocks are a well established and completely legal technique, which have been tested in court many times.
3. The Trinidad neighborhood, where this is occurring is suffering from rival drug gang violence.
4. Interviews with neighborhood residents indicates pretty widespread support for the police action.
AND, if the police decide they have "no legitimate business" there - they are turned away
That is restricting the freedom of travel -
SEIK HEIL!
