Considering that Fascism is an unholy alliance between big government and big finance I doubt that fascist liberal can exist. Fascist Republican can and certainly does exist. Just look at the current administration for a fine example.

FWIW - I am a liberal (one that wishes to maximize personal freedom, opportunity and responsibility without discrimination) on social issues and a socialist on economic issues but I am not and never have been a fascist. Government must regulate business to keep the market manipulators and monopolists from corrupting the system.

As far a drilling in the Bakken field I think we should but the federal government should own the oil and the oil companies hired to do the work on a fixed fee basis. The government should sell the oil at market prices to only domestic refiners for use in this country and the profits used to retire the federal debt.

I’ve never seen corporations and big business “self regulate” so the government had to step in and do it for them because they don’t self regulate! Free enterprise has run amok.

Enlighten me, what do you mean by "regulate" or more to the point...what needs further governmental regulation and in what areas should a business "self regulate"?

As you know utility and electric companies are regulated mostly at state level governments with regards to company earnings. There was a period of time that the Ma Bell and AT&T companies were regulated at both federal and state levels again with regard to company earnings. Other the utility companies today little if any corporation or business is controlled by a regulating agent of government again with regard to earnings.

And no corporation or company seems to be self regulated for issues of safety in the workplace. It’s to the federal government to monitor because they don’t do it on their own.

However we’re getting off topic.
