So it's hard to fathom why Democrats in Congress have joined Ayatollah Khamenei in denouncing the U.S.-Iraqi agreements even before they are written.

They will side with whatever side is against "W". They despise him so much they would put political gain above anything else - including winning in Iraq.

How very shameful and despicable to be rooting for America's enemies to win.

The question is whether most Iraqis want such a partnership. If not, there's a good chance that a continued US presence could extend the violence indefinitely, as long as the Mahdi Army and other groups are seen as "the resistance."

Because lack of opportunities elsewhere forced them to sign a contract with the military before fighting even began.
