Wow. I live in San Francisco, home of the largest and loudest gay community in the country (world?), and have NEVER seen a "sex orgy" in public... and I've attended quite a few Pride parades, which are much more civilized than you'd think. Gay people already are normal, decent citizens, which you'd realize if you bothered getting to know any of them. You probably do know many without recognizing it, since - gasp - they are just like anyone else outside of whom they date. Sad how the "bad apples" get all the press, huh?
P.S. I've lived with 2 (single) gay men over the last year, and they make me look wild in comparison - an exciting Friday night for them is a movie with me & our other roommate, and maybe a drink or two at a bar. Woohoo!
Ive seen the pride parade in SF and bhcris08 is right they are as close to public orgies as you can get. I agree if you want respect than stop acting like a weirdo in public.keep your kinky sex toys and ass chaps off the streets.... other than that once a year i love SF!

You guys must have a different idea of freaky, because I've been going to SF Pride for YEARS, and still don't recall seeing any orgy-type of behavior. You will see lots of chaps & an occasional naked person, but not much else... unless you're going into the "private parties," in which case you should expect to be shocked. Check out the picture threads in the SF forum, if you want to see our pictures from Pride. There's nothing too crazy in them, as it's basically like any other street fair - just a bit more colorful, LOL.
In any case, it still isn't fair to judge the whole gay community on that... as somebody else said, would Christians like to be judged based on fundies, Mormons on the polygamists, etc? Homosexuals are just like heteros - some are freaky, some are not, and thus they should only be judged as individuals.

Why don't straight people try and curtail their public display of nudity and sex during spring break? It is obvious that the parents of these youth did not bother to teach their children about decency and discretion.

oh i completely agree with you on that, homos and heteros are of same value as human beings but the only difference is heteros don't have a sexual and perverted parade for it...
im not saying it isn't good entertainment though... it kindof is like watching an orgy parade...hell thats what they should call it. In fact would the homos of the world be offended if we heterosexuals had our own parade for being straight??? we all have equal rights right? We should be proud also right?
