What does that even mean?

It means that some people make even less than teachers and complain a lot less too. It means that teachers get a lot of vacation time and still complain about compensation when there are people making less who work just as hard if not more so.

that means that teachers are the only ones who have those types of vacations. my mother got 3 weeks off for christmas. in the real world, you get off 1 day.

Your spring break comment didn't make sense, in case you didn't realize, there are people from all over the place who take vacations, even spring break vacations.

Hmmm, sounds like some people have bitter attitudes towards teachers because of their time off. I still believe they are underpaid for what they do. And true, there are some lamo teachers out there, but then you find that in every profession.
Great teachers deserve to be compensated, and well.

They are not underpaid in NY either. It is just really hard to get a job on Long Island. If you want to work in the city it is a bit easier.

no, it made perfect sense. spring break is an extra break. sure jobs have vacation, but the most paid leave I ever got starting out was 10 days a year.

so, what's your opinion? too much, not enough, or just right?

I think the bitter attitude comes when teachers actually complain. I don't blame them for wanting to teach and have all that time off, but if they want to complain about being underpaid, they are whining to the wrong person.
