"The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd had a low point in her life when she was "sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count," she told Precious Times.
Shepherd, 41, also told the black Christian women's magazine that "my sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference."
It wasn't until converting to Christianity that the talk show host found her way.
"God showed me that it would make a difference," said Shepherd, who said that faith helped her through a rough divorce from Jeff Tarpley, whom she says cheated on her and got another woman pregnant.
Shepherd also said it's hard to talk about religion on the popular ABC show.
"Oh, sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Meyer [popular televangelists] would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved.'"
And just when I though the "View" couldn't get any lower in the gutter than with Whoppie Goldberg and her out of brain rantings, Sherri Shepperd tops Whoppie with her out of brain proclamation! I can see it now, the Nobama administration, Whoppie and Sherri as co-Secretary's of Health and Human Services!

That's awfully brave of her to go public with. It sounds like she's changed alot since then.
The View is one of the most annoying shows ever anyway!

Yeah, the "View" is on the same par as the the Rev. Al Sharpton's show "Keeping it Real"! It's the radio version of the "View" with Rev. Al playing the court jester to himself!

Wow, I think this wins the "ignorant post of the day on City-Data forum" award (and it's only 10:45 am EST!)

Sounds like she would have been a great candidate to have those kids at that time, right?

I just recently hear the Rev Al show. Wow. That guy is really milking the race baiting to afford those Brioni suits.

That woman on the view...well, that is just sad and heartbreaking. I think the View is a silly show, but I admire her for making that statement. Abortion used to be VERY accepted as a form of birth control. Now people are standing up and calling it what it is a form of murder and I think (I hope) it's not as prevalent as the 80-90's.

I'm glad she found religion because she is carrying a heavy load of guilt.
