It won't matter the conclusion of the proceedings, those are irrelevant to their purpose. It is much like a false news story that is aired, then retracted. The point of the story was not the story itself, but to provoke a reaction from the public that would favor a position or bias.
So, if all of this goes through the motions, the damage will be done as people will not check back for the verdict and you can be sure that the verdict will be ignored by the media if it is not within their agenda. That is, if all of their claims are found to be BS, we won't hear why or that they were found so. All we will hear is that he was accused and the rest will be unimportant.
It is much like the 9/11 commission. It had a ton of accusations, etc... but in the end, it was nothing more than BS, but the damage was done and the conclusions were much less published than the accusations.

Am watching the House Judiciary Committee on C-SPAN right now. They aren't impeachment hearings, per se, according to Chairman John Conyers, but rather a fact finding on the use (abuse) of executive power in order to protect the tenets of our Constitution. Seems worthwhile to verify what the chief executive can or can't do, according to the Constitution, if even merely for the purpose of guaranteeing it doesn't happen again (if it DID happen at all). I guess we all have our opinions on that.

I understand that, but we can't impeach a whole nation, or half of congress at once, we CAN impeach a president though.

I hope folks will watch this C-SPAN hearing and maybe then a good discussion can be held on whether it's important to the country or just political spin.

This may become standard proceedure with future presidents and be totally meaningless.

So when is a sexual act committed by two consenting adults inside the White House an impeachable offense under the law and none of the items listed for Georgie W. aren’t impeachable? The end results are that every American got screwed by George instead on just one inside the White House.

I'd love to see him impeached and removed from office, for spitting on our Constitution over and over and over again. But you know what? There's an election in a few months. Just let it lie. This is ridiculous.

Of course, Clinton wasn't impeached for a sexual act, he was impeached for perjury.
Bush should have been impeached a long time ago.
What he's done is, I agree, a thousand times worse than anything Clinton ever did. Clinton was just a lying, womanizing sleazeball dirtbag. But Bush is undermining our very Constitutional rights and making us a bigger target for world terrorism than ever before.
Neither one of them was fit to lead our nation, in my opinion. But Bush should, in all honesty, have been put on trial for treason and placed in prison by now.

As much as I'd love to see Bush (and Cheney) impeached, and they should've been a long time ago, I have to agree that it's late in the game for these hearings to be taking place. However, regardless if Kucinich gets his goals accomplished, a lot of these things will come out in public. They've been out there in the public but most people have turned their heads to it. Seeing all this stuff in one spot, maybe those who have blindly supported this regime will wake up and realize what a crock of bull poop this Admin has been.
That aside, Bush had pardoned himself awhile ago. Yup, he excused himself from "potential war crimes" .. which is hysterical b/c he's admitting right there that he's guilty.
I had the link to this, but can't find it now ...
I say kudos to Kucinich for pushing through with this and not backing down.

Actually, this is bad for the conspiracy theroy and slander positions. The last thing they want is all of the information being investigated, organized into a nice folder where all of it can be referenced for the conclusions of its investigations.
The 9/11 commission only served to make the conspiracy theory nuts look silly. All this will do is give people an easy way to respond to the nut case claims. That is, the nut cases will have to deny the investigation to carry on their claims and it will only serve as to separate them from the irrational
This is good for Bush in terms of the actual evidence, it is bad for conservatives and republicans because the slander is the only thing that will get reported. Though the constant conspiracy nut claims on boards like these will be shut down fast with the investigations results.
