Default Another preaching republican indicted on seven counts

Many republicans preach & preach about how bad democrats are, and certainly some are. But as proven over the last 7 years both parties have many members who need to be booted.
But only one party claim the high pedestal.
This is just one more scandal to go top of the almost countless others

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator, has been indicted on seven counts of making false statements. Stevens, 86 years old, has been dogged by a federal investigation into whether he pushed for fishing legislation that also benefited his son, an Alaska lobbyist. Authorities have also scrutinized his ties to a corrupt oil contractor who paid employees to renovate the senator's home.

Yes, The Bridge to Nowhere man.

Looks like he is now on the Bridge to Nowhere!

Ironic, that a story yesterday/today on the roads & bridges across America are in need of 140 Billion to make them safe.

I don't know if it is too late, but it would be great if the GOP could get Stevens replaced on the ballot this fall with someone supported by the Governor Palin.

I don't know Alaska politics well enough to answer that. Palin has been active in cleaning up all of the corruption in Alaska and she doesn't get along well with Stevens. I think anyone that she would endorse would have a good shot given her popularity level in the state. I can't imagine her doing it now, but last year there were rumors that she was going to run against Stevens in the primary and could have beaten him easily. That would have been a great stepping stone to get her to the national level for the 2012 or 2016 Presidential elections.

What happened? Did the Senator forget that auditors exist or did he think he was immune form such a imposition? How stupid and how arrogant.

I have a friend in Anchorage who has been telling me for years that Stevens was a no good crony who made a lot of his friends rich with pork barrel projects in Alaska. Why do Republicans have scandals in election years? It''s like they can't help themselves.
