awe, a personal attack for me! I feel so special. don't worry, I am not the kind that cries to mommy and daddy when personally attacked. I went to private school. to be honest with you, I am sick of your socialistic attitude. I abide by the constitution, you ignore it. if anyone should move to another country, it should be you. let me know how norway is. what made me into the person I am, is people who think like you.

I'm really getting tired of your attitude.

The government picks winners and losers each time they write tax code- it's usually the rich and powerful who are the winners. I for one fully support special tax breaks for families with children - the family unit is still the cornerstone of this country...

I can't help (nor do I particularly give a damn) what made you into the person you have become. But my advice is this - shut up and pay your damn taxes, or get married, or do me a favor and move to another country.

We'd all be a lot better with less of your kind...

good god. your points are totally invalid. when capital gains taxes are cut, government revenue goes up. why? because people aren't sitting on their investments afraid to sell them because of huge penalties. the same people like you who scream bloody murder about tax cuts, have no problem with a 10 trillion budget, and have no problem with things like the "global poverty act," which is nothing more than paying foreign dictators to suppress their people. I am sure you support the WIC program for illegals as well. after all, bring your sick, your tired, and your poor, just don't bring any money, we got ya covered. I am not responsible for providing health care for anyone else's child. taxes should be even.

the fact is, you are ranting, and your sounding a bit absurd. when you start out with a personal attack, it's hard for others to think you are thinking rationally.

What is wrong with providing tax breaks for health care for kids, or personal excemptions for dependent children, or tax breaks on school supplies??? It's for a worthy cause. Everyone who wants these things to end - think about where the next generation to pay for you when you get old is going to come from? If it is economically tough to raise a family, people will have fewer children -and we will be in trouble as a nation...

I'm sorry you think I'm ranting - I feel strongly about this point.

The same people who scream bloody murder about tax breaks for average Americans with children have absolutely no problem supporting major reductions in capital gains taxes, huge tax breaks for selling a personal residence, even support abolishing the estate tax (which really benefits the top 1% of income earners)...

Sorry -think of it as a rant - but it was straight from the heart....

Well, back to the OP...

I'm a parent who benefits from politically motivated government welfare... ie EIC, stimulus checks. My kids attend public schools.

Before I married and had kids, I was peeved about the same things. In fact, my employer cut our annual bonuses by 20% across the board one year to give each child of each employee a new bike and that same year closed the "open bar" policy at our annual Christmas party to help pay for a Santa Claus (who came with additional, individualized gifts for each kid) at the party. I was STEAMED to say the least, and quit my job there because of it. Policies like that used to infuriate me and being called a "selfish BI***" when I spoke out against it made me even madder!

Then I had kids. I can still see the injustice of it, and if it came up to a vote, I'd vote against this stuff, but I'm still gonna cash each and every check that comes my way.

Thanks liberals!

The last budget that Bush (Republican Bush) submitted was a little over 3 trillion - not sure where you're getting the 10 trillion number - sounds like a definite industrial strength rant to me

As far as my getting 'personal' - so have you....

If you don't like the heat - get out of the kitchen...

You and I are on opposite sides of the spectrum - thank God...

Back to the OP - I'm single with no children. own (outright) my home, own rental properties, own part of our family farm and get taxed at a ridiculous rate. I have no problem paying taxes. I even feel that it's my responsibility to pay taxes. I have a problem with the value of what we're getting with our taxes. If the schools were generating better students and citizens, I'd be more than happy with the system.

look at the estimate for the budget in 2010. it's somewhere around 9 trillion. I didn't get personal, you did. I posted about a group, you posted about an individual. I don't care mind you. I am a man, and I am never offended. obviously, you get offended easily. the only reason I warned, is because sometimes moderators will bust ya for attacking the person. it was just me looking out for you. you are right, we are on opposite sides of the spectrum. I am right, you are wrong.

Sorry man - but I just looked it up and the 2010 budget is just a tad over $3 trillion.

We're all entitled to our own opinions - but not our own facts!! If you want I can post a few links to substantiate my facts - but it will only make someone look like a fool - so why bother.

By the way - what does "I don't care mind you" mean - didn't understand that phrase from your post.

Cheers!

please do post facts. not sure how you hijacking a thread about a tax credit is going to make someone look like a fool. give the links. unless they are accompanied by a .gov, I don't take them serious. I am pretty sure I saw where the proposed budget for 2010 was 9 trillion and I have posted links before. if I am wrong, I am a man, I will admit it. "I don't care mind you," was me telling me that I could care less if you try to personally attack me. I have thick skin, and I can stand the heat. just giving you a heads up that some moderators don't like it, so you should keep it to generic attacks.

JM,

OK - read it and weep - go to page 25 of this document - the chapter is entitled "SPENDING" - by the way - the source is the White House web site, so if the numbers don't seem trustworthy- believe me - I totally understand - I don't trust much that comes out of that building either:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2009/pdf/09msr.pdf (broken link)

The 2009 Budget is 3.133 trillion dollars...

By the way, you are the one who continues to be personal in this thread - and continuously berates me.... I stopped after the first thread... So if the moderators are coming after someone - I'm not so sure it will be me...

why would I weep? I already said that I would admit it if I was wrong. I need a chance to try to find where I saw that the budget was higher. I don't think I have said anything personal, and if I did, I apologize. this was your very first post in the thread.
