Anthrax scientist commits suicide as FBI closes in
Anthrax scientist commits suicide as FBI closes in - Yahoo! News (broken link)
WASHINGTON - A top U.S. biodefense researcher apparently committed suicide just as the Justice Department was about to file criminal charges against him in the anthrax mailings that traumatized the nation in the weeks following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to a published report.
Something stinks here... why would he take an OD of Tylenol w/ codeine, not a very effective (Most tylenol OD's are not successful or it takes days to die, codeine is not a powerful opiate) or pleasant way to go, if he was a top scientist and had access to a painless suicide?
After reading the linked article my impression was that he was a) the one that did it or b) he was tracking down the one that did it via his unauthorized tests and was getting too close for comfort.
As GregW has noted..there's a lot of suicides lately and the cases are getting buried with them. Coverup ?
Two more anthrax letters, bearing the same Trenton postmark, were dated October 9, three weeks after the first mailing. The letters were addressed to two Democratic Senators, Tom Daschle of South Dakota and Patrick Leahy of Vermont. At the time Daschle was the Senate Majority leader and Leahy was head of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Both were identified in the media as holding up the proposed Patriot Act because of concerns that some parts of it would violate civil liberties.

He was retired and was described as "a character". He had no relationship with his brother....seems a little odd.
If it were truly a coverup why wait this long, just have him have an accident 5 years ago instead of letting him roam about for 7 years and possibly spilling the beans.
