The Wal*Mart should have no need to worry about a union. I don't know anybody that works for Wal*Mart so I cannot say what life in the Wal is like for the employees. I do shop there and I am not anti Wal*Mart.

Well kev, do a little research It's well documented what wal mart has done to it's employee's. Off the top of my head-helping employees fill out medicaid and other gov aids so they don't have to pay medical benefits, placing that cost on you and me, while raking in record billion$ profits.

No employer has to provide ANY benefits.

And, how much of those "record" profits are poured by into the communities in the way of Scholarships, funds to build parks / recreation, funding for the towns senior center or the Crisis center?

Wal-mart will cost American tax payers $9 billion in health care, while making $11 billion in profits. Howw much did they give for Scholarships, funds to build parks / recreation, funding for the towns senior center or the Crisis center? Why should my taxes pay for people who are employed by a company that makes billions in pure profit? They should be given the dignity of health care for themselves and families for their hard work. Companies that will not provide fairness, need to be told what is fair, thus UNIONIZE

WalMart is one of the poorest corporate citizens in the history of the republic. Last time I looked (which was several years ago now), they had more than 3,000 open cases against them for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act in the state of Maine alone. In 2004, some $2.5 billlion in federal welfare benefits were paid to WalMart workers.

Let me ask this: How many other companies - large or small, do not provide benefits to their employees? Hint: It is a lot

There is no requirement - NONE - for an employer to provide healthcare benefits, paid vacation benefits and so on - and many do not

Should all of these companies be unionized?

I respectfully disagree. Example: After (actually before) Hurricane Katrina and Rita - who was the FIRST company to bring food, water, clothing, medicines to the Gulf Coast? In fact - WalMart has been there after many disasters - including the recent tornados that destroyed towns -

If that is an example of a "poor corporate citizen" then, I wish we had more just like them -

Well - it won't happen. Nor, should it.

Many employers simply are unable to pay the kind of benefits you might like -

Simply put - unions put companies out of business.

As for WalMart - it will not be unionized. Just like some of the casinos in Las Vegas are not unionized -

Employees have found them (unions) unnecessary
