How did Georgia attack Russia?
It responded to attacks from South Ossetia(part of Georgia by the way).

I also wonder why Russian forces were in South Ossetia considering it is part of Georgia.

They didn't; it was OT, and a joke.

I don't worship Bush by a long shot and you guys make fun of him all the time.

But Obama is off limits I guess; touchy, touchy.

No biggie. It was a joke; it wasn't meant to be a diversion.

Back to the subject...

Let me get this straight.....USA, which is Georgia ally blames Russia for its "disproportionate(sp) response". Those words came from GWB himself. Maybe i just don't get it, but it appears that GWB is acknowledging Russia's response.

I think it looks like he's not sure what the hell to do, and it seems like he's walking a tightrope on this one, though I don't know all the details...

He basically said they have the right to defend themselves....since Georgia did shoot first....but extinction is a little much or disproportionate. ....in short.

To me it would seem that the USA is not to be trusted.

Perhaps the Georgians are correct in that.

But why the USA , why not UN?

We simply cant do anything for GA now unless we provide air support and than things will escalate .

By the way I know the UN is useless which is my point we cant continue being the worlds ref

I don't know much about South Ossetia and all that but look at the whole situation - the West has it's hands all over this three/four day conflict. Russia knows that they don't need to be fighting freaking Georgia but these guys are just sending a message to that Georgian president and his allies- 'this whole idea of NATO inclusion and planting missiles in my backyard is not gonna take place'

I agree because our options are limited .

Either escalate the whole thing or sit tight for now see what happens.
