Wounded NATO Grapples with Russia - Yahoo! News (broken link)
While France and Germany saw reasons to blame both sides for the Georgia debacle, Poland last week rushed to sign a pact with the U.S. to station missile interceptors on its soil, provoking threats of retaliation from Moscow.

Then again:
Wounded NATO Grapples with Russia - Yahoo! News (broken link)
European diplomats have expressed irritation over the intense support lent by Washington to Saakashvili in the months preceding the crisis, which many believe may have emboldened the Georgian into making a calamitous mistake by invading South Ossetia. "The U.S. encouraged him without really understanding the nature of the person," says Christopher Langton, senior fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London. Now, he says, the "E.U. is very uncomfortable with the fact that they have invested quite a lot in bringing Georgia into the E.U. neighborhood."

Today, the peace loving Russian stole some US Military property, including Humvee's.

I sure hope there wasn't any classified communications equipment in them.

That's just wrong. But funny. What I find sad is that people may honestly say that Georgia provoked Russia into invading them, but it took a LONG time to move those Russian divisions to the border. This was brewing, and planned a while back. They were looking for an excuse. Very reminicient of Poland so many years ago.

Just like the first Gulf War was planned and the US was looking for an excuse.

Even though there are no deserts in Europe, the US started sending units from the US VII Corps to Turkey to undergo desert warfare training right on the border with Iraq.

In addition to the fact that there are no deserts in Europe, the terms of the Conventional Forces Europe Treaty had already been agreed to and it was known that the VII Corps would be removed from Europe and deactivated, yet someone saw fit to spend $Millions in tax payer money for desert warfare training.

Equally interesting is the fact that in addition to the US VII Corps, 2nd Armored Division (FWD) from NORTHAG and the 3rd Armored Division from the US V Corps (but no the 8th Infantry Division and not the 11th ACR) also were sent to Turkey for desert warfare training.

It must be sheer coincidence that the US VII Corps in Desert Storm consisted of VII Corps units, plus 2nd AD (FWD) and 3rd AD and that they just happened to have spent 2 years training in the desert.

If the Bush regime could have just anticipated the economy as well as they did Iraq and remember the initial talk was to build bases in Iraq for exploits to follow against Syria and Iran.
