WASHINGTON (AP) - Before Julia Child became known to the world as a leading chef, she admitted at least one failing when applying for a job as a spy: impulsiveness. Details about Child's background as a government agent come into the public spotlight Thursday with the National Archives' release of more than 35,000 top-secret personnel files of World War II-era spies. The CIA held this information for decades.
Newly released files show Julia Child was a spy

We could use more, many more.

I'm sure we've got tons of them that we'll find out about in another 50 years.

Brilliant move to use Julia Childs. Who on Earth would have expected her?

Julia Child actually worked for the State Department during WWII- long before she was a chef. We discredit her by remembering her only for her culinary skills. She led a very full life before ever setting foot in France and learning French cooking.

She wasn't a spy, she was a clerk for a spy agency. But well done Miss McWilliams.
