About "Cracka" v. "Cracker". At least down in Florida, "Florida Cracker" can actually be a complement. Essentially means a Florida "native" (not in the native american sense though). Apparently there was some show cowboy from Florida that used a whip in his act or some such.
"Cracka" on the other hand strikes me as ebonics and shortening of "Saltine Cracker", which is essentially a reference to whiteness.
I was actually having this EXACT conversation with a friend who said looters (in New Orleans) were primary 'poor white trash, blacks, and hispanics'

Seems the correct categorization would be trashy people, with no values or morals. who cares what the color is? Trash is trash. and its the action that makes them so.
It is curious that we have nothing equivalent to the N word for whites. none of the mentioned bother me... I put no power in those words. We had no names that were used to put us down... well except ***, ***** or things like that.. but those cut across all races. Seems it only has power when it was used to harm or put down.
I work at a hotel, and I was recently called a 'stupid cracka b****' because the person didn't like our rates. Okay. I told her to go find a room somewhere else and shrugged it off. I'm pretty thick-skinned and I don't care what other people think anyway.
Having parents from Germany and Russia (and being born in Russia myself), I have been called a Nazi and a Commie on more than one occassion. Not really offensive, just...juvenille and ignorant. But that's the way of the world.
I do get slightly irritated when I'm blamed and told to feel guilty for slavery just because my skin is white. My ancestors had nothing to do with that dark part of history of the U.S.
No single race has a corner on suffering. At one point or another in history, everyone has been victim to oppression.
I'm white. It don't bother me none when retards call me names. Because only a retard would use those names. So it don't bother me none. They can't help it...they are retards.
I think it's because we don't see those words as insults. Cracker is just a country person and we don't that as bad. Redneck is someone who works hard outdoors and that's not bad. We admire humble hard working people.
It's hard to insult whites because we turn it into compliments.
In fact with whites, being called an elitist or a pampered aristocrat can be a bit of an insult. If someone calls you a hick versus a city slicker, you'd take it better.

Why are white people not offended by slurs like kracker, ****** or white trash?
