One guy isn't enough to judge a Republican, but there's a hell of a lot of Democrats who are involved in disloyal and bad ****. It's only right to call Republicans more loyal and patriotic than liberals.

Crazy is a strong word. The arguments for it reflect a well-organized in-depth research effort and much of it is based on data that is just as good as that used to refute it. Personally, I think it is unlikely that there is a basis to the conspiracy theory. But I am also unprepared to say that it arises out of insanity, stupidity or malice, and I appreciate the fact that there are so many people willing to do the work necessary to challenge the conventional wisdom, and I admire the people who do it.

You have to agree that the JFK conspiracy theories have been very, very weakly debunked, if at all, even though Oswald probably was the lone gunman. America is a better place becaue conspiracy theorists (generally responsible, intelligent, educated, patriotic Americans) challenged the conventional wisdom, and compelled us to apply more scholarship to conroversial issues.

Furthermore, the whole idea of conspiracy theories is given a great deal of propulsion by the fact that our powers that be so often really do shroud reality in lies and deceptions, as you agreed at the outset of your post.

Maybe you never learned about just how difficult the war in the pacific was for us to win. The Japanese (those "Asians" you mentioned) were an extremely formidable foe. Check your WWII history books...

They started with a conclusion and looked only for the facts that backed it up. Anything that didn't their preconceived conclusion was dismissed. That's not how one conducts an honest, objective investigation.

No, crazy isn't a strong word - not in this case.

We have invaded Iraq, have pretty much occupied Saudi, and now beefing up with Iran. Next on the agenda is Venizuela. Okay, there will only be top two oil rich countries left within the next 15-20 yrs or so, USA & Russia. I guess it's time for me to start digging trenches and stuff, it looks like pretty soon we shall invade ourselves for oil too.
