Blacks have survived to the post 1970 America were they are now fully experiencing their own American Dream. Millions of Blacks are now working in high management positions, living in wealthy suburbs, and driving the latest luxury cars. Their life expectancy is now just a few years short of their White counterparts.

How about the white kids working 14 hours per day in MA factories about 100 years ago.

And Japanese people locked up during WWII... for no reason other than they were of Japanese descent.

Slavery is horrible, and we should be ashamed as a nation of allowing it, but it's not as bad as genocide. When you're enslaved, you can still hope to be freed, sing, have a family, enjoy nature, and know you'll have a legacy (which blacks do in this country and Native Americans don't).

The Indians were basically exterminated like rodents. Could you imagine strangers from another continent telling you your way of life sucked, and you had to believe in their God, and follow their lifestyle, or die? If you DID do this, you still might die. White people embraced African American culture, and it's strong to this day, especially in music where it DOMINATES outside of rock. What do the Indians have? Place names? Casinos? Chapters in history books? That's about it. They're foreigners in their own land to people who are themselves foreigners from the other half of the world.

The only reason blacks are seen as being more oppressed is because they lived to tell about their plight. The Native Americans don't even get that privilege.
humanities whole past has been brutal from day one. there's been slavery, genocides going on since the beginning of recoreded history and before.!! from white enslaving whites, blacks enslaving blacks, indians enslaving indians,,asians enslaving asians, slavery and genocides are happening today.!!! if you can imagine it it's happening somewhere on this planet no matter how vivid or brutal your imagination can be, it's happening.!!! hitler exterminated 6 million jews, the black tribes of africa sold their own people for trinkets, muslims are blowing up muslims everyday. super powers are waging war for resources.. nothing has changed only the methods and tools of the trade.

we all know the history of mankind!!!>> it has been a barbaric brutal one.!!! now the best thing we can all do is all respect other races for what they are, and let everybody believe what that want to believe, but don't push your beliefs down other races throuhts, we all must learn to live with eachother or the cancer will destroy us all.!!!!

Agreed.

It makes me both sad and angry to think of the many tens of thousands of Native Americans who were slaughtered, many times by the US military. There was great animosity, after the many wars and conflicts, for tribes who sided with the losing side.

One day you are living on land where your ancestors had lived for thousands of years, the next day the US military comes and tells you to pack up leave. You may try to explain the history your people have with the land, or even speak to a treaty that was signed by the government giving you souvernty to the land. But the next day they come with guns blazing forcing your people to flee for their lives; with many failing to do so.

I'm glad the sins of the past cannot be repeated any longer; you just cannot hide the evidence of these ruthless tactics anymore, because they took place out of sight in the wilderness.

They had to be tough to survive. They have what they have because they fought for it. They stood up and let everyone know that they demanded to be treated as American citizens. If they were to be in America as citizens, they were to be treated as such. That said, there is still the insidious, hidden racism out there, and it takes place in crafty ways. Yes, many African-Americans are living that American dream. With that said, there are still some issues that need to be addressed.

Well, just not in the same way. Land grabs are still happening. Right now my nation is fighting with the government and, yes, the US Army from taking Comanche land. It's done with the courts and lawyers instead of guns these days.

I hate the thought of slavery, of a human being acutally being sold and used as a slave!!! How horrible!!!! But they were finally freed, thank God. Now on the other hand Native Americans had their land stolen from them, were massacured by the white man and the mexicans, were driven from New England to the west only to die in the worst blizzards!!! Those that survived then had to battle the white troops in battle, arrows against guns, until they finally obtained some. Now they are alloted pieces of land to live on which originally was NATIVE AMERICAN LAND......so I think Native Americans had it much worse....

I believe the African-Americans had it much worse than the Native-Americans did. Since the end of time, man has always killed for the conquest of land. We are as human believe that we need to own more than what we are willing to pay. First, the Native-Americans were able to shoot back and went out to terrorize the white man, so they were able to fight back. African-Americans were not and were made to wear chains and were beaten and their dignity was taken away without a way to defend themselves. They are also having to fight for equal opportunity in the work place and still get discrimination down in the south states. Even after the Civil Rights movement were tricked into not voting. So I think the African-Americans had it worse...they were treated like dogs or a pet and if they didn't do as we said, were killed, beaten, their children were taken away and sold to other white people. Native Americans were able to come to an agreement with the American whites to continue fighting or to give up. They choose to give up. The white man went to war to free the slaves only to see them in bondage with unequality.
