The article makes some good points, like about victim mentality and the hostility of many so-called "pacifists", but it's forgetting school shootings, crazy people who get ahold of them, and people who have guns because they believe the world is out to get them.

All of those very rare. School shootings are rare, statistically most mentally ill people are more likely to be a victim of violent crime than commit them, and most paranoid people with a gun move to Montana or Idaho and become survivalists.

Very, very rare. The vast majority of people will go through their school lives without having a shooting incident. The same can't be said of driving and not being in an accident, yet nobody's calling for an outright ban on cars.

"Projection"
It's the anti-gun people who believe that much more than the pro-gun people.
Remember, the Second Amendment is the one that protects all the others. If you're willing give up that right, you're willing to give up them all.
Yes, bad things happen sometimes - and sometimes they involve the use of a firearm. A lot of the time they don't. Don't blame the tool for the actions of the person wielding it.
Nobody's forcing you to own a gun. If you choose not to own one, that's fine. All we're asking is that you don't force your choice on us, removing our choice.

School shootings should be forgotten, in the big pucture. We only have a widely publicized one about every two or three years. It makes no sense for phenomena that occu that rarely to have a central place in policy formulation. We have 18,000 homicides a year, and only about a dozen occur in a school environment.
Hostile "so-called" pacifists are as legitimate as equally hostile "so-called" defenders.
And, thank your for this very objective article from this very objective psychiatrist:
"Dr. Thompson is Executive Director of Utah Gun Owners Alliance" Which hat do you think she was wearing when she was motivated to write this article?

Lol, That last one was good. living in Idaho I can say that isn't too far off the mark...
God, tell me about it. People here see guns like cheerios or a car, everyone needs at least a couple!
