The National Institute of Health's National Cancer Institute, both Federal agencies, just listed cannabinoids as an effective treatment option. There's a new section entitled “Cannabis and Cannabinoids” just added to the National Cancer Institute website. The page doesn’t just acknowledge the “potential benefits of medicinal cannabis” to treat symptoms of cancer chemotherapy, but there is also an acknowledgement that cannabinoids potentially possess a “direct antitumor effect” in humans. This may be the first time the NCI, which is a branch of the NIH, has ever acknowledged this point. What will this mean for the future of medical marijuana and the war on drugs? I'd like to see less tax dollars spent and placed into better areas.

Quote:
"General Information: Cannabis, also known as marijuana, originated in Central Asia but is grown worldwide today. In the United States, it is a controlled substance and is classified as a Schedule I agent (a drug with increased potential for abuse and no known medical use). The Cannabis plant produces a resin containing psychoactive compounds called cannabinoids. The highest concentration of cannabinoids is found in the female flowers of the plant. As a botanical, Cannabis is difficult to study because of the lack of standardization of the botanical product due to the many climates and environments in which it is grown. Clinical trials conducted on medicinal Cannabis are limited.

"The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal Cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect.

Cannabinoids are a group of terpenophenolic compounds found in Cannabis species (Cannabis sativa L. and Cannabis indica Lam.). This summary will review the role of Cannabis and the cannabinoids in the treatment of people with cancer and disease-related or treatment-related side effects."

Too bad it doesn't stop all the brain tumors that has pot users landing in jail for violent crimes.
Almost all violent people in prison use pot, then often mix them with other stuff earning pot the nick name "The Gateway Drug".

Found a suggestion it cuts some lung cancers in half.
Marijuana Cuts Lung Cancer Tumor Growth In Half, Study Shows

Here is one for a specific breast cancer.
Marijuana Could Be a “Powerful Effect” Antitumor a Specific Breast Cancer | Medical Health Care Centre

So it has some good medical benefits, but very bad for pot heads.

What about the millions of pot users who are responsible, productive citizens...who also happen to be non-violent?

ROFLMFAO......PLEASE provide a link for the nonsense you just posted......how do you expect to ever be taken seriously?????? .

ALCOHOL is the real "gateway drug"......News Flash it's the 21st Century.......REEFER MADNESS is OVER!!!!!

I work as a Nurse, we use synthetic pot(Marinol) for many illnesses......to treat anxiety, increase appetite, promote a sense of well being, etc......except in Reefer Madness....I've never seen anyone get violent...except when drinking/abusing booze!

Alcohol has ZERO medical benefits!

I agree that criminals use drugs, but I've never heard of weed
making people violent. Apathetic, lazy and hungry, but not violent.
