It just occurred to me that past Presidents might have had a prime time address by now to us concerning the horrible news in the financial markets. I remember that reagan, carter, clinton used to have a lot of them back in the day. why doesn't George W at least get on TV and at least try to instill some kind of confidence to us?
Do you really want that idiot to talk to us?? Do you really?
well, even if he could be joined by some more intelligent minds of his Cabinet to help explain things and reassure ppl that their deposits are safe, etc. That is one quality that I have missed from a President. Even if you as a citizen are not particuarly fond of the Prez, it shows at least that the President at least seems to have a grasp of things and that things will eventually work out. I am a little bit envious of previous generations who had Presidents who communicated so well with their fellow citizens. The strength and confidence of FDR comes to mind.
george is contemptuous of the american pubic and its opinions. the only entity george has concern about is the one that hired him, feeds and keeps him, DOD.

Any 'talk' by ol' GW would just make things worse. The way he mangles words any speech by him would probably start a depression, two famines and a tsunami.
This is just another example of just why GWB will go down in history as one of the very worst Presidents in our history. He has demonstrated leadership exactly once during his two terms and that was in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.
His advisers are likely telling him to lie low...or maybe no one has even informed the dumb bastard that this crisis is even happening in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him clearing brush down in Crawford, Texas very soon.
Ugh. What a nightmare he has been and this is coming from someone who voted for him not once, but TWICE.
Maybe the president looked at his own portfolio and is too depressed to talk with anyone. I saw Bush's speech about hurricane Ike's effects and Bush looked exhausted. He even sounded sincere. Maybe he has been taking acting lessons.
I would appreciate a talk starting with. "I just lost a billion bucks. The rest of you are really screwed."
Most of you have crapped on him so much why should he?
Because it's HIS JOB. It is what he took an oath to do... be our leader and commander in chief.
By all accounts... he's probably been told for the sake of the election, and The Republican party, to not make any large addresses. He would just bring large reminders of failure for the Republican Party and it would make things that much harder for McCain in the next 5 weeks.
