Acountability, whether it be on the federal, state, local or personal level. Somewhere along the line we ceased being a country of individualists and became a whiny, corrupt collective.

But America is so poor that we cannot find a way to ameliorate their misery now, and things are going down hill. So even without illegal aliens, what would be the prospects for attaining this lofty goal? Every effort in that direction is immediately and vigorously obstructed by the greedy and selfish, who, sadly , constitute the majority of the American people.
Make every student take at least 2 years of political science and understand ISSUES before they graduate high school and are old enough to vote! Then maybe the right people will get voted into office one day!
What good would they do? We make them take more than 2 years of reading and writing, and they do not become proficient in that. We make them take 2 years of geography, and they can't find the Atlantic Ocean on a map of Maine.
With all those new free hours there's so much you can do:
Read.
Spend time talking and playing with your family. Get to know them.
Make some new friends and reconnect with some old friends.
Instead of screwing around---well, stop it. Life is so short, get real.
Help out a neighbor.
Get some folks together and go pick apples, ride horses, or go swimming
Stop eating junk food, a little at a time.
Make yourself over - in ways that matter: Strengthen your character, do the right thing and don't make excuses.
Adopt a philosophy of moral courage and personal responsibility.
Hike outside town limits and watch the sun rise. Or set.
Play a game of backyard football. Girls against the boys!
Listen to music that was written at least 50 years, and then check out the really old stuff.
Listen to some talk radio at the liberal end of the FM dial.
Develop a rich vocabulary and replace the easy hyperbole with wit. Exchew sarcasm as a form of humor.
Grow up, grow beyond toilet humor and dick jokes. Nothing requires less intelligence or creativity than references to biological functions. Whoopdidoo. Boring.
Take a class and learn how to do something you've always wanted to learn, but never made the time.

Every American or immigrant should have a basic understanding of math before they graduate or are granted a Visa. No math, no graduation or Visa. Also, every American should have to take a class in basic common sense. Oh, and know how to use Google as a basic research tool. Liberals should have to take it twice.
PS, 45 million unemployed? 45/156 = 28% unemployment rate. A quick trip to the BLS indicates that 3.6 million were unemployed this past labor day. Also, they indicate 82% of full-time workers are covered by health insurance. Looks like you would fail the common sense and the math tests. Do you even read what you post?

I never said happy. I said we can make everybody live generally free of misery. We can, but we don't, because the majority is comfy, afflicted with greed and selfishmess, and doesn't want the rest to be.
