The Fed. WON'T PAY for reconstructing Galveston and other hurricame hit areas. WON'T PAY for a first class health service for every American Citizen. WON'T PAY for rebuilding the crumbling infrastructure of America. WON'T PAY for new refineries and open new drilling areas. WON'T PAY for a top class Education system for every American child. WON'T PAY for effective equipment for the military. BUT they WILL PAY for incompetent CEO'S and Fat Cats who have crippled the economy. WILL PAY for corrupt dealings with special interest groups. WILL PAY billions to overseas oil companies. WILL PAY to rebuild other countries. WILL PAY overseas disasters. Isn't it now time that the American People say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH". I hear so much rubbish from elitists who are sooo proud of the "American way". Their American way is the greed way. What happened to the "for the good of all" way. Americans are the hardest working people in the world but the profits go upwards to the "chosen few", not to the people who actually are the life blood of America. Change MUST happen and happen now. This is not America of the past but must be the America of the Future. Stop using America is free to argue against facts. America is not free, it is held hostage by Big Companies and old outdated elitism. Every American should now stand up and reclaim America from the greed of the "chosen few". It's not a crime to make sure that every American has the same quality of life that we would want for ourself.

A Harvard study found that more than 50% of all personal bankruptcies in the US are due to medical expenses and most of those people had health insurance. We have a government that will bail out corporations that are failed by the greed and arrogance of management yet we're willing to tell people who get sick through no fault of their own to go pound salt.

While I understand the need for the bailout to prevent something even worse I certainly hope people might start looking at what's really important.

Angry .

Failures ,,,,, more failures and those in charge and responsible get rewarded and are not help accountable, both in corporations and government. This is madness to even consider not having government oversight and control of taxpayers dollars that will be used given to corporations. Criminals wanting YOUR money and idiots who are willing to just hand over the blank check without requirements. At lease "Billy the Kid" holding up trains wore a mask and had a gun.

More Corporate Welfare! Just remember who was in charge for the last 8 years!

Bailing out the Rich and Wealthy at the cost of the middle class and poor.

Why is the opposite of bailouts more regulation? Let the suckers fail... let the market punish them for their poor decisions.

Here's a true, current story of just how hard it is to get elected representatives to take an action that will benefit citizens - and the government at the same time.

Our great-aunt was bilked out of $250k by her caretaker while her (national) bank admits to knowing and profiting over $10k from the situation. Our family can't even get her Alabama representatives to agree to a change in legislation to protect other elderly from the same fate. This is proposed legislation that will keep money >IN< the government. Guess what happens when senior citizens get cheated out of their retirement savings? They go on public assistance.

But this legislation would prevent banks from profiting from conflicts of interest. And it would require banks to pick up the phone to call authorities when elderly fraud is suspected. Heaven forbid. Apparently financial institutions come before citizens.

That's a bit of a rant to some of which I might agree. However, I wouldn't agree that the federal government should pay for reconstructing Galveston, health insurance or public education.

Angry We won't take it any longer

Totally agree that the government is out of control & totally unfocused. The disaster of the Bush presidency & the inability of congress to do anything for our nation is disgusting. I believe we need to have a nation-wide demonstration of no confidence in our elected representatives. We are heading into a very grave crisis & can no longer justify spending $ millions on a senseless war & giving the wealthy refunds for their own careless losses [while normal Americans are going into bankruptcy

burdell and Aksarben i agree with you both. Every four years the Citizens of America vote in a Govt. WHY? If America cannot trust it's own elected Govt. why bother voting them in. Yes Govt. is corrupt. This corruption is allowed and even condoned by elitist Americans who have the "do as i say and not as i do" attitude. Too much money is going into the hands of too few Americans. This must now be adressed and an even playing field created. Capitalism works only if it is for the good of all and not just for the good of the few. As soon as anyone mentions collective responsibility or Govt. control they are accused of being evil socialists. America used to be the country that treated even it's lowest citizen with the same respect as it's highest paid citizen. No Longer. Greed is the inspiration that has created this economic problem. The "i'm alright Jack" attitude that the rich of America now have. Midle America is now nothing more than "Cannon Fodder" to the elitist Rich Americans. They really do not give a rat's ass about America just how big their pocket books can get. Too many good honest Americans are suffering and bleeding because of Big Company greed.

The federal Govt. is YOU. Why does everyone talk about the federal Govt. as if they are some way off private concern that only has certain responsibilities? YOUR money is what the FED. spends and it should be spent on every single Citizen. Not spent on overseas problems or keeping private companies in the black. Remember YOUR money should be spent on YOUR health, YOUR Schools, Your reconstruction. Stop talking about Fed payments as if it isn't your money, it is.

The Liberals have been saying all of this as long as I can remember, which goes back to the Eisenhower administation. It's nice that almost every American, through this crisis, are now becoming aware of what the rich have been doing the poor for decades, for generations.

The central point of every Liberal philosophy is stop the rich from grabbing everything for themselves. Now, the conservatives are beginning to notice what has been happening.
