Why is owning property considered by you to be "the right thing"? I consider ownership a crime.

You failed to note that I said "doing the right thing financially". In case you did not understand, I meant that almost every financial expert in today's troubled times says that people should not overextend themselves but should live within their means, i.e. only purchase what they are able to pay for. I know that it is hard for some to understand the concept of purchasing a home and living in it long enough to pay off that mortgage, but it does actually happen and it doesn't take a fat cat (deserving of "punishment") just percerverance.

Folks this is a moot argument and was floated in 2004. At that time house ownership was an asset that was increasing in value and part of you assets without exposure to taxation while increasing. Those of us who were 55 or older could walk away with $500K in appreciation tax free. In this market of so many houses decreasing in value and becoming a declining asset it is not a relevant concept anymore.

Why do you think ownership is a crime?

Because there is no need to possess anything. Greed is an intense feeling that you need to have something you don't...more of something you already have, or something you don't have. If I have something, and I'm not using it, why shouldn't it also be available to someone else?

Why do you need more land, for instance, than the amount you can physically occupy? If you plant crops in an area of land, why take the whole crop for yourself? You have to preserve the food, or it will go to waste. Is it better for it to go to waste?

I have no need for material possessions, I can take none of them with me when I'm dead.

That's all fine and good but most of us live in the real world.

I say let them do it, I am tired of them toeing the line or playing games that makes people "question" if they are doing right or wrong. I want them to go all out so that way there is no doubt in my mind when we start swinging them from trees.

When you park your car, do you leave the keys in it and the doors unlocked so that anyone who wishes may drive it while you are not driving it?
(assuming you own a car)
