Amid the current economic meltdown of the banking industry, former presidential candidate is warning that such a catastrophe will trigger the lost of our constitutional rights.

Link to rest.

A few predictions to look back on (like my Feb prediction of the failure of Fannie/Freddie )

Gold ownership is prohibited (not that ANYONE should even think about surrendering it). Tip: do NOT leave gold in a safe deposit box as it will be subject to seizer as in 1933.

2nd amendment rights preserved, but only for a "select few" who are lock step with the government. Given the restrictions set forth concerning even a felony pot possession being grounds for loss of rights, I'm suspecting that de-gunning people highly suspect of the government will be easy to implement.

Since the military and police are ill equipped to handle crowd control, Stasi like organizations (citizen informants) could be paid to rat out their neighbors. When you suspect everyone of ratting you out, it makes organization of fellow citizens for rag tag militia very risky.

As someone who is in the data mining field, I'm well aware of techniques used (in fact, some unnamed sources in certain agencies have used some of my publications in their gubmint "work" ).

Thanks. It amazes me that some specially so called conservatives call him a crazy. Here is a politician that supports many of the things a true Republican conservative is said to support yet many of these so called Repub conservatives dismiss him when he actually stands up and suggests doing.

On a certain very conservative outdoors website I have visited and even this site I have witnessed hard core Reublicans scream about liberal Democrats and their anti gun laws and also their big government ways and tout they believe alot of what RP stands for but when it actually came down to the election all of a sudden they called him a loon. And all that time they called McCain a Dem in Repub clothing, yet now all of a sudden they support him just because he is running against a Democrat.

Makes you wonder what some of these self proclaimed small government,Constitution thumping,so called Republican conservatives really want when it's in their face. They screamed about Clinton nation building with no clear objective yet change their tune when Bush does the same thing. They tout they want small government out of people's lives yet change their tune when they want to use government to force their morals and spend away on the boogieman war on Islam.

It has become clear that some profess beliefs in freedom yet when it comes down to it they are really concerned about only their freedom and maintaining hold on power to determine what freedom means for others.

Thats next and McCain will probably support it because he has the most to hide. The internet is the last place you can hear and say the truth. If you go on the street and talk nowadays they will beat you up and throw you in jail.

If you're really worried about it, only use public wi-fi with no log in account, buy an external NIC with cash second hand, and be around other people using the internet (in the unlikely event GPS can triangulate a position, a few meters does little when around others using it).

If we got to that point where your only way to preserve anonymity is to use the above steps, we're all pretty screwed.

Look to China for what we "could" become in regards to the internet.

"The people" wanted to be protected from another 9/11 occurring.
Lots of legislation has been passed these past few years and we signed away many of our freedoms.

You may not realize that now because you still enjoy those freedoms but once they are taken away then you'll realize that our leadership passed laws that would allow that and not many citizens spoke out against it.

The neo-cons confuse me too! They claim to be conservative but it is almost as if they don't believe in conservative values what so ever. Then the democrats like to blame everything on the neo-cons but the democrats are to blame for this big mess of a country too! Where have these parties gone? They have lost their values so much that it is almost hard to tell them apart.

Yeah, and look how effective their attempts at censoring the Internet have been...

He's right. There is a very dangerous risk that the governmentn of the US will view the internet as a threat to national security (after all, evrything else is!) and either shut it down or sieze control of it. However, since the Internet is all in the USA, if it is shut down, the whole world will be. Somebody in Finland or someplace will fairly quickly get the financial backing to restore it, and then the whole world will be on the internet again(except the USA).
