I'm not embarrassed to live in Texas. I am proud. It would be interesting to see how the United States would fare without Texas. My guess is not too well.

Exactly. Gee, why would I be "embarrassed" to live in a place where the unemployment rate is 2 points below the national rate, where housing is affordable, as is the cost of living, and the job market is good and growing? Our state isn't running to the feds crying and begging for money to meet its payroll.

And the only thing I'm "tired of" is all of the lefty "fools" who helped ruin their own states wanting to move here.

I live in a Democratic State..THANK GOODNESS!

Yes, I would be horribly embarrassed if my state was for McCain. My neighborhood was Republican and I was ashamed of that let alone my state!

I'm embarrassed to live in a Democrat-controlled state--New York--that is overrun by gargantuan spending nearing the billions and massive taxes on everything from iTunes songs to Movie Tickets.

My state was RED but is now BLUE. The only reason for this is because so many people fled a few Northern BLUE states because there were no jobs, and the cost of living was too high + higher taxes. Now they bring their BLUE state mess down to me in Florida....

If you let Youtube and SNL guide your political compass, you shouldn't be voting... Dumb people unfortunately have the right to vote.

In other words, you'd love for places like the RGV (with its high unemployment, pervasive corruption, high dependence on welfare, big problems with drug violence and illegal immigrants, and lowest per capita income) to grow and grow in Texas just to turn the whole state "blue," huh?

You do realize that the good economy and low cost of living you enjoy in the "red county" would go down the tubes if that happened, don't you? I lived in the RGV for 12 years and saw poverty and corruption that should be unimaginable in the First World, especially an economically healthy state like Texas. It's also geographically isolated and, thus, expensive to relocate from there.

But, yep, it's Dem-controlled. So, if living in a large "blue" area in Texas is important to you, you could always move down there. But don't wish those problems on the whole the state! The only reason the other pockets of blue are faring better than the RGV is there are enough intelligent, educated, fiscally conservative folks to prevent undo damage to their economies.

I really don't get why Libs like to gripe incessantly about living in a "red" area but continue to reap the benefits of it.

I think the colors are bassackwards and should be switched.

Red is the color of socialism. Blue is the color of courage.

It's like that in Europe and the Commonwealth. I think we're the only country to employ Red=Conservative Blue=Liberal.

Combined, Barack and Hillary don't even come close to being as smart as Einstein. Please don't let your giddiness for ultra-liberal idealism get the best of you. Left wingers voted for Barack, but that doesn't make him a genius.

You probably even look up to the leader of your beloved party, Howard Dean. That in itself speaks volumes about your view on brilliance.

Louisiana, majority of local and state politicians are Democrat. Our current governor is the closest thing we've had to a conservative in a long time. I'm happy our state is moving towards a more conservative form of elected politicians. Finally, our voters are either becoming educated to what decades of corrupt politicians has brought upon our state, or the ignorant voters have begun to die off or left the state thanks to Katrina. Illinois Governor has nothing on Louisiana governors Long and Edwards. Although Blago might be joining Edwards in Federal Prison before long.
