I agree .. it takes a boatload of money to become socialist .. this country is in hock up to it's eyebrows, and what social programs we do have, will fade away as budgets get cut, and as there is less money to throw around.

It's simple math:

No money = No Socialism

It is more like the United Fascist States of America since we have the government colluding with the big corporations who have all the power and are absconding with our money!

With Socialism the wealth is spread around to everyone. Here we have the money from the middle and upper middle classes being sucked up by the government elites and the BIG GLOBALIST corporations. We are being taxed to high heaven whether it be by inflation and the devaluing of the dollar or the draconian energy taxes. This lowers everyone's standard of living -- except for the few elites. It is nothing at all like Socialism.

Let see, we have:
Social Security
Medicare
Medicaid
Federal Highway System
Farm Subsidies
Food Stamps
Welfare
Along with many other social programs
But NOW we are going to become a Socialist country?
I would also remind the readers that the same people that whine on and on about us turning into a Socialist Nation are also the same ones whining that the Government has not fixed the economy and have not created enough jobs. So am I reading this correctly either you actually want us to become a Socialist Nation or you are a Hypocrite, which is it?

I know you have me on ignore, but this is so the rest can see you are living in a pipe dream. Nobody who is against Socialism is asking the Federal Government to create anything. They are telling them to BACK OFF so things can improve. The Govt. CAN NOT create any jobs but GOVERNMENT jobs! That IS Socialist, what the Govt. CAN do is make the business environment more friendly to do business.

I would really like to live in a country that provided the basics for all of its citizens with a system of countervailing tariffs and a highly progressive income tax on the top 10% of incomes. I would like to see a country that refuses to use military force to protect foreign owned and managed petroleum companies. I would like to live in a country that used its own resources to create an individual and small business friendly economy while heavily suppressing national and international monopolies.

Yeah, I would like to see a truly progressive socialist nation with real opportunity for all, not just the privileged few created by a corporatist friendly politics and the advantage of inherited wealth.

Dang....all I ask for is freedom. And my search is, so far, unrequited.
