At what point, EXACTLY, during the birthing process do you feel the fetus/baby receives protection by the government as a human and the woman relinquishes her right to choose, i.e. the third trimester, when the baby is removed from the birthing canal, when the umbilical cord is severed?

BTW, I'm agnostic so religion is not a factor in my view.
When the baby is viable (can live outside of the womb), I would consider it a human. This would include most babies that are 7 and 8 months along, unless they have a birth defect that is incompatible with life (i.e. babies born with no brain).

Nearly all pro-lifers are that way for religious reasons. If I'm wrong, I apologize. Actually I don't know ANY pro-lifers who aren't that way for religious reasons. I'm just acknowledging the possibility that some might exist.

Thank you for that honest and precise answer. Now, why do you think that the baby should be protected after that point?

why not ask, without assumptions

I am that way first because I believe that it is a life at conception because scientifically when sperm and egg meet this is producing life, second when two people get together they know that sex can possible produce a child

and thirdly based on my faith

I don't know where you are getting your information, but I do not know of ANY doctors who would perform a third trimester abortion for any of the reasons you mentioned above EXCEPT health of the mother. Health of the child/children would be the second reason. Change of heart and sex selection are not reasons for a third trimester abortion.

Third trimester abortions are rare and they are dangerous to perform.

Because, at that point it can survive without the mother. The mother could walk away and the baby would be fine (provided it had medical attention). It is no longer dependent on the mother to provide life.

Have you heard of Dr. Tiller the Baby Killer from Kansas who will perform abortion on demand? These things happen.

I understand this point. I guess what I was trying to get at was that you feel at that point it has obtained its own rights as a human. Is this correct?
