By the way, heres an open ended question to those who disagree with people who have advanced degrees, why are you against intellectuals? Coming from a working class family with parents who wanted to raise children that capitalized on every opportunity to further themselves I am confused by the partisans who try to trivialize those that do try to become more educated. Since it is well documented that the greater the level of education a person receives the greater the life long earning potential is would you not want the future generations of Americans to become the most educated people in the world? Or would they just become "just a hair's width away from Marxism"?

Please elaborate on your previous posts with facts and evidence as to how the educated have made the US more marxist.

The few lines that I read in that "article" are lies. You people are sad.

My favorite snippet from the comments so far: "unless you are an academic Dr (and not a real one) whose livelihood comes from sucking off the government tit"

The excerpt - I would expect that ethical forensic psychologists would turn away in embarrassment from this simpleminded, vindictive rant - if they ever hear of it, which is unlikely since it had to be self-published.

"Liberalism" isn't pathological any more than "conservatism" is - so starting right from his title the author has discredited himself. Poor Dr. Rossiter's vindictive, unoriginal rage is like something from an old 1963 pamphlet you'd find in an old bookstore, warning the reader against the evils of the Civil Rights movement. It's kinda... pathological.

Oh well, water seeks its own level, and there's always been an appetite for this stuff. Meanwhile, just like to remind everyone - or rather, each of you individually, in the spirit of the thread's theme - as you reflect upon how much better your lives are than others', to be sure to thank a liberal for it today!

The Constitution was one of the most "liberal" documents of its day. Where would we be without it?

Thanks for the link, poster. It brought a few smiles and giggles as I read through it. I would like to point to one item in that blog and will return to other points you made after I write a response to DrJoey.

Simply put, the stuff in that blog about the social security system (SS) was quite irritating, and, for many people, far from the truth. Having contributed to SS for nearly fifty years, I was shocked and dismayed at how small that entitlement is. I certainly wish that the idea of privatizing the SS (on an optional basis, of course) had been available to me, with whatever amount left to my immediate family as part of my estate (I am a widower). Moreover, it doesn't take much of an education to plug the amounts that taxpayers are forced to pay into any spreadsheet to learn just how bad of a deal this entitlement is. In my own situation, the amount returned to me on an annual basis is hardly more than what I could earn on the principal I could have amassed. Suffice it to say that the SS has suffered many other abuses since LBJ decided that the government should raid it.

Question: As a liberal, how do you feel personally about the potential that you may never see a nickel of your own contributions returned to you?

SS was not a bad idea but like you said, starting with LBJ it became a government piggybank and it lost its original purpose. Too bad nobody has decided to put some kind of protection from the spendthrifts in place.
