Let me tell you, my mother and father were both immigrants from Ireland and Mexico. They did it to escape corruption, religious pressure and blight.

They made a better life in America.

Now some Americans will make a better life elsewhere.

One thing for sure you should enjoy life, it is not meant to be endured. I don't blame anyone for wanting to move away.

As for Canada, if you go for the western provinces, these are the best places for employment. Alberta and BC have low unemployment and Saskatchewan is the next booming provinces. Real estate is slowing down all over Canada and declining in what was once the overheated market of Calgary.

Forget the maritimes for work. Ontario is the province most tied to the US due to manufacturing and is not in good shape and neither is Quebec.

We're not talking about living outside the US because of career or a great job offer, travel, exploration, etc. The OP wants to leave because life is just getting too hard here. I say GO!

Mom from Quebec with lots of family there. What happens here eventually happens there. If you are thinking of running to Canada because our economy is down, good luck. They are laying off in Canada too and their real estate market has hit a slump.

Geez, Why would you want to move here? Hasn't anybody told you that our heath care sucks, they take more than half your pay in taxes, the cost of living is through the roof and it snows year around, plus all Canadians hate you Americans.....I'm spoofing you, but our economy is tightly hinged to yours so we are just beginning to feel the pain as well.

At what point will Americans realize their country is bankrupt?
