What we are witnessing is the demise of our democratic system and the beginning of an oligarchy. When the stock market settles down, we will see hyperinflation that will reap more havoc on our system than a military invasion.

Please listen to this radio interview by economist Michael Hudson.

Actually what we are witnessing is a cyclical downturn. Democracy will remain, and the economy will eventually recover.

It looks more to me that we're headed towards becoming a second-rate socialist country like the ones in Europe.

And there are people who counter what he says... why do you take his outlook as the only truth?

There's counter opinions on everything. But do listen to the interview and form your own opinions.

It's important that everyone look beyond mainstream media to understand what is going on.

Thank you.

Hudson's got a pretty dim view of everything the U.S. does.

I know it does sound grim, but I do hope someone will actually click on the link and listen to the interview rather than commenting blindly for the sake of creating a new post.

Years ago, I would send some of Hudson's articles to friends about the housing market would cause the banking system to collapse and they would say the same thing -- it sounded so grim and radical.

It's very hard for people to grasp the extent of what is happening in our country. They want to hear happy stories. They want to hear about new opportunities to make a fortune. They want to believe that what's happening is just a natural downturn in the normal business cycle. They just cannot grasp the concept of hardships.

Every time I go to the grocery store, I see fat people pushing their shopping carts full of food down the aisles. Nobody imagines that one day they might have to stand in line for food.

Well, at least all that standing might help them slim down. Then they will be in better physical condition when the economy improves, and they can compete more successfully for employment.

You need to speculate on that food bowl being half-full, Woof Woof. Otherwise, you'll progress no further than the old cliche about life being a beach.

Woof, you are asking a lot of people to take the time to listen to some online yahoo rant about who knows what. Why don't you summarize the piece and point out important points to give people an idea whether it is worth their time.
