So, we've denigrated Islam; judged homosexuals; we go on a tirade against Jews and Israel; we laugh at Christians; we finger point at Diablo; kick Pelosi out of her plane; wrap our arms around the 2nd; praise the Mayor; out the illegal aliens (or immigrants); do away with Black History month; chide all mainstream media
and blame much or all of it on those "darn" Liberals who are really just progressive thinkers.

Well... do you really see the Islam thread as Islam bashing? I think it's heated for sure, but not a subject bashing, more an argument/debate problem as people are resorting to aggressive accusations and not building their cases to debate instead . They are also taking words like "pagan" as an insult when it is used in the normal sense of the word. I think the 'offense' taken is more to restrict the arguments than make a real point, similar to calling someone a racist if you want him or her to shut up in a discussion when race has nothing to do with the topic. I realize I'm aggressive in debates, but I'm not bashing Islam or anyone, just stating my beliefs and supporting them with documentation and known facts. I am calling out those who debate with no proofs true, but is that hateful toward Islam itself? Or is that simply genuine debate where those who will not meet the standard are called on it openly?
It's not right to slam anyone without cause for sure. All I ask and demand in debate is that when one makes a claim, he or she backs it up instead of resorting to name calling.
An example; I made a statement that said that the concept of a trinity is not alien to the Jews (or something very similar to that).
The person who responded to that asked me: "What do you mean by "alien" ??? When you're dealing with people who get hot in debates yet ask a question as simple and obvious as that....well....!!!!!!!!!!!
(I should have responded by saying "little green man"...but I think I was too flabbergasted to respond and thought better of it too!
Thank you for contributing so many new threads and forcing people to think!!!
MoMark, I do think there is some genuine good stuff that gets discussed, but like so many, it is intention I am so concerned with and I believe the Islam thread--like others--are started to incite (no insight)
Hope we can keep them all civil, but I sure as *e*l have my overheated moments.

As a progressive, I think we enjoy it just a little bit...or in some cases a little bit too much. Everybody knows we're a bunch of freaks; we're gluttons for punishment.

The trouble is there is no "progressive unity". The very nature of the progressive thinker keeps most of us beating our own drum. It's easy when you have Team Conservative or Team Liberal on your side. I think that's why we're such a defensive bunch.
I did notice you fisticuffing over on one or ten threads.

If you all would all just take a shower and stop being such dirty effing hippies, the world would be SUCH a better place.
