The poorest can afford to pay something. Our country has become a nation dependent upon government to provide us with things we "want" rather than what we "need".

Obama wants high income taxpayers to pay their "fair share" of taxes. I think 60% is more than fair.

How many jobs have the "middle-class" created? ZERO.
Entrepreneurs create jobs.

Obama gutted the Clinton era welfare reform act just in time to attempt to buy the vote of the welfare class.

A rather naive narrative. Sounds as if it comes from someone disconnected with reality. I think Mr. Romney will be surprised if he ever sees your tirade. Because, both he and the President have gone out of their way to talk about how it's the middle-class small business persons who foster the start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures ... and create the jobs. You're not helping the extremists advance their cause ... attacking what they say is their base? Or, is it that the "base" is a bunch of rednecks?

When the wages paid by employers are so low that their employees require food stamps and medicaid, the wealthy job creators are really the ones who are using welfare.

The memo acknowledged that Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, had to walk a fine line in restraining benefit costs because critics had attacked it for being stingy on wages and health coverage. Ms. Chambers acknowledged that 46 percent of the children of Wal-Mart's 1.33 million United States employees were uninsured or on Medicaid.

Faced with the unavailability or unaffordability of health coverage on the job, growing numbers of lower-income workers are turning to taxpayer-funded healthcare programs such as Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

This trend is putting an added burden on programs that are already under stress because of fiscal constraints caused by medical inflation and federal cutbacks. Many states are curtailing benefits and tightening eligibility requirements.

It also raises the issue of whether states are being put in a position of subsidizing the cost-cutting measures of private sector employers.

I say it is time to increase the minimum wage so that there is no longer a "welfare explosion!"

Quote:
Most people assume that the various benefits we collectively describe as “welfare” go to people who aren’t working. The truth is, however, that some people with full-time jobs still find themselves below the poverty line. The U.S. federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. A full-time employee who doesn’t miss a single day of work for a year earns $290 a week; that’s 15,080 a year. According to how the government measures poverty, that’s enough to support a single adult. For a single adult with a child, however, it’s officially below the poverty line.

I say it's time to elect someone who will actually FIX the economy and doesn't need to remove the work requirements from welfare in an effort to BUY votes.

How do you fix this?

Wal-Mart's poverty wages force employees to rely on $2.66 billion in government help every year, or about $420,000 per store. In state after state, Wal-Mart employees are the top recipients of Medicaid. As many as 80 percent of workers in Wal-Mart stores use food stamps.
Walmart's employees receive $2.66 billion in government help every year, or about $420,000 per store. They are also the top recipients of Medicaid in numerous states. Why does this occur? Walmart fails to provide a livable wage and decent healthcare benefits, costing U.S. taxpayers an annual average of $1.02 billion in healthcare costs

Do you think the Waltons are trying to buy votes for Obama by intentionally paying such low wages that their employees are forced to seek supplements from the government?

What percent of Americans are on welfare... or are about to be? What percent are of voting age? What percent are voter eligible? If you were a campaign advisor would you advise your client to go after that low hanging fruit? Seriously, would you?

You ARE aware of course that in the last unemployment figures it showed that since Obama has failed miserably to fix the economy and create jobs, more people than EVER have been forced to take multiple jobs to make ends meet?
