At some point one wonders whether there is a conservative left in the country who can at least offer a moral take on where we have descended, and promise that the federal government won't offer any more spending it can't pay for in cash, and that the public in their own private lives should start doing likewise.
Seems this author hasn't been paying attention to the kook that brought all of this up back in October 2007 at one of the first GOP debates.
The more I listen to Ron Paul these days, the more I think this is the best man qualified at this point in history to run this country. I didn't agree with his foreign policy platform when he ran a year ago, and I am not so sure I agree with him now, however, when it comes to having a grasp of economics, and especially on the history of currency, the more I am convinced that he should be up on that stage tonight. He'd take Obama and McCain to the woodshed.

Without reforming the foreign policy, you can't control spending. Without controlling government spending, we can't complain about personal spending habits. It all filters back down to the individual somehow. We don't restrain ourselves, therefore we don't restrain our government either.
As an aside, I'm curious why no "conservatives" are speaking up in here about either candidates' plans to reduce government spending. Maybe because neither has a plan to reduce spending?
