Look at history when a person holds a government job by appointment they dont hold it forever. The most maybe, a presidents first term but not into a second term, those jobs are a lot of stress. Powells career is far from over he is doing very well. He can do whatever he wants to, he's a bright man. The Iraq war we had to go in there, Bush went to the UN, like we need to go to a organization that communist countries have a say in what we do, but after 14 resolutions we had no choice but to invade. Saddam all he had to do was open up his country and let the UN inspect to make sure he didnt have weapons of mass destruction. Look at this way if Saddam didn't have weapons of mass destruction he would of let the UN in but he needed time to remove them and besides they did descover some labs and proof that they were there. Satilites detected trucks leaving Iraq into Seria during the 13 months we were going through all the resolutions. The bottom line is the Iraq war was nessessary for the safty of all the free world.

You really need to find a new hobby, because politics is so far over your head, you embarrass yourself every time you open your mouth . Everything you said is completely wrong..! Who is it that tells you what your opinion is every day..?
Colin Powell could have any career he chooses, he prefers to remain retired.. Not everyone needs the limelight...

Surprisingly I agree with part of Donn's comment. Powell's career is not over. He left the administration for many reasons that I hope he shares with the American people some day. General Powell has been mentioned as a possible cabinet member for President Obama.

Colin was never a politician, but a very intelligent and level headed military man.

How many political careers has Bush destroyed? ...

No more than the Clintons did during their tenure, and no lives have been lost.

Bush has ruined hundreds of political careers. I know of two prominent Republicans from Illinois who are stepping down after spending years in D.C., and that is only two of the more well known members of Congress, there are plenty of others who will be voted out, and those in the Senate as well, and all those others who work in D.C. in politically connected positions who have been poisoned by their connection to the criminal Bush Admin.

The failures\ scandals of the Bush presidency have hurt the GOP. But Republicans, in general have made serious blunders of their own [ie. Congress out of control spending that Bush never vetoed\ meddling in a private family's decision over a brain-dead woman\ boycotting France\ allocating federal money to religious institutions\ promoting anti-gay measures\ allowing abuses of environmental standards, under-funded veteran's health needs, etc.

People who surrounded themselves around George Bush are responsible to themselves & need to stand up & take the rebuke\ ostracism from Americans. Who will ever consult Cheney as a prominent vice-president? Like Nixon, the Dick Cheney & Bush will essentially live in exile\ shunned by the nation.
