The last 8 years has been a education for all Americans on how the constitution can be subverted. We have watched the current admin wipe its azz on it.

I say if you own a Che Guevara t-shirt than you are not a real American.

In some ways, I agree, in others I do not. Yet if you think the other side isn't doing the same or is even planning bigger, then you are letting your bias cloud your ability to see clearly.

I have no bias....I want what's best for ALL of us,including you.I'm a realist and always have been, simple facts are simple facts in my mind.As far as the other side doing even worse,I hope not,but who knows.By the mere fact that a person runs for POTUS shows that he/she is the HIGHEST order of egomaniac that there possibly can be.Egomaniacs by their very definition think they are the best suited for anything that they try and that includes power grabbing. Some like Clinton and his crew were smart enough to bury that fact out of public view better than that retard that is in there now. That's my take on it for what it's worth.

To be a real American all you need to do is support the constitution & the great founding principles of this country. Freedom, individual rights & responsibility is about what it boils down to.

Most of our recent presidents & neither of the current top picks would pass the test.

Obama is running on a platform of restriction & change. He is un American & he WILL make it a worse place if he wins. GWB screwed us up because the man is an idiot, Obama will do it intentionally, how that can be better is beyond me.

The change that is needed is to wipe the slate clean of EVERY unconstitutional law or restriction & recreate the free, independant country we once had.

Yeah, we had that every-man-for-himself thing going for about two weeks away back in prehistoric times, and then somebody said, hey, this really sucks. How about we form a society and cooperate with each other instead? That worked out much better, so that's what we've been doing ever since. About time some folks got used to the idea. If they did, they'd start recognizing that there are both obligations to self and obligations to others, that there are responsibilities inextricably attached to all those rights they love to claim, and that their own personal autonomy is in fact sacrificed at the margins in exchange for the existence and benefit of the community. People would be a lot closer to being real Americans once they did that...

Wow, Saganista you are hard core left. Jtur, I almost agree. Support the Constitution +1, support the bill of rights which give me the tools to defend the Constitution +1, support the bill of rights which give others the tools to destroy both foundations of our country -1.

Then the simple facts are hard core left. Could be that the perspective from which you attempt to view the facts is a source of some distortion for you. The species has always prefered society to anarchy and risk-sharing to risk-ownership. Membership in any society or group is a two-way street. There are responsibilities attached to every right. There are bounds to personal autonomy.

America is a joint venture. If you cannot play by its rather simple rules, then you are hardly alone in not living up to what it takes to be an American...

Kudos saganista, Our fore fathers, as I have stated before considered all of the theories out there, communism/socialism/conservatism all are based on old theories, mostly from world religions, some not and came up with a pretty darn good plan. Let's stick to it and quit trying to destroy the Constitution and bill of rights. If your theory violates our foundation then begone with it. The problem is that as much as we prefer or desire society someone in that society will desire power over all. Socialism does not have a check and balance to that power desire, Our constitution and bill of rights do. The first successful assault against the constitution was by Abraham Lincoln (no it was not about slavery) taking away states rights. FDR pulled the next and the most recent has been little Bush, Thanks Bin Laden (he is brilliant). Please move to the middle were the constitution lays, undo the damage of the above and go through the constitutional methods of change not legislating from the courts, that benefits few.
