Obama preached to a roomful of people that you have an obligation to give to the less fortunate. I would imagine that he was talking to the audience who belonged in the middle class.

So how would OBAMA force you (as a middle class) to have an obligation to give to the less fortunate???

Pick one:
a) Through a tax increase for the middle class
b) Through a required deduction from paycheck where 10% of the income goes to the charity like how some churches do this
c) Do it on your own and the IRS will check your tax return to see if you gave to the less fortunate
d) none of the above - other ways_____________________

I'd like to see HIS personal contributions to charities in the last 10 years...

We give generously to those causes we believe in, that we have investigated to ensure that the ratio of money donated to actually gets to the cause is within reason, and that are above board.

I believe that if we are forced to make contributions in the form of higher taxes, many charities that now depend on those that give willingly will find themselves in dire straits.

I think that while the Dems TALK giving all the time, countless studies have been done that find that the Republican conservatives are the ones that donate more often and more generously.

Under an Obama admin I wouldn't be giving any $$$ to charity. You want money? Go ask Obama.

I do believe we should give to the less fortunate, but not because Nobama says so. We should have the freedom to give to the needy in our own way, not a way that's forced upon us.

That is interesting coming from someone that only gave about 4% of their income to charity which is paltry...what a hypocrite.

See? Obama's already saving you money!

Seriously, I hope that Americans continue their practice of giving ... time, money, goods ... to those less fortunate, to those suffering from natural disasters, to those who for whatever reason find themselves in need of help.

Isn't that the American way?

americans will not continue the practice of giving if the government continues it's practice of taking. this isn't an obama thing. democrats and republicans are equally guilty.

I think Obama is basing that statement on the Bible. We do have an obligation to help others in need.

Once upon a time, the rich did feel it was there obligation to help the poor and since I'm not a selfish person, I've never had a problem with sharing or helping people in need. What do you think your taxes are for? What do you think Social Security is?

Btw, anyone who is paying attention has heard Obama say again and again that tax increases would only be on anyone making over $250,000.
