Nobody should pay more taxes than another.

Flat tax = simple. Fair. Just. Equality.

Easy fix.

Well, I personally support a flat tax.

But our founders might say "no taxation without representation", and since the wealthy get more representation than the poor, they should pay more for the amount of representation they're getting.

Plus...they're the ones that have the money. You don't go to a cattleman for your pork ribs.

We all should pay the exact same percentage of our income in income taxes, no deductions. The lawyer/accountant lobby will never let that happen. It's why every election year tax simplification is the biggest bs on the campaign trail.

Skip using percentages for a moment and tell me who paid more in taxes, you or them and why shouldn't you all pay the same...you're all individuals that receive the same benefits from paying taxes so, why should they have to pay so much more than you. Cindy's family owns the Budweiser distributorship in Phoenix so she not only paid both parts of her social security, she/company had to match the payment for every employee in the company.

If you reach her income stratum, remember your own words.

If you're looking for diamonds, do you go to a diamond mine or a coal mine?

They look to the rich for money, because that's where the money's at. Also, we do not all receive the same benefits from government, many of us receive NO benefits. No taxation without representation...that was a precept of the wealthy land-owning white males that founded our country. Too bad that they didn't let it extend to the rest of us poor schlubs.

Cindy McCain benefits far more from this country than the rest of us and that's why she should pay more. Her family's business would not be possible without collective investments in our infrastructure. Why the hell should anyone making a fraction of her income pay for roads and government they don't use? The rich should pay more because they benefit more. Her family's business would not be possible without specific funding from the feds.

You got it. The same is true for small businesses. We pay the full amount owed in corporate taxes, and 2/3 of the rest of the incorporated businesses in the country pay NOTHING and get government subsidies on top of it.

How expecting people to pay taxes at the rate they should be has become socialism is beyond me--I think lots of people have no idea what the word means, but they love to throw it around as a slur.
