There's nothing to 'get over' it's simply an observation. This way the liberals can do whatever they want and us conservatives can do whatever we want. I think it's a good idea.

Well, where I come from the suburban Republicans subsidize the City liberals

(about 60% of my taxes go to the nearest thug-hugging city)

When we split, the Republicans can take care of those "red" states all by themselves then

I just glanced extremely quickly at this chart and for a split second thought it was local gas prices. I'm glad I took a better look or I would be moving the family to New Jersey tonight! LOL!

All liberals could live in New England while the conservatives and Reagan democrats get the rest of America. No one lives in PA and NY so that the liberals don't accidentally get bombed when the conservatives start a war with every country on Earth.

I think that people will naturally disagree on how to go about getting to the end result of an issue, but I think I might have to agree with the OP. The differences at this point are so blatantly out of step with one another. I am overwhelmingly frustrated at the blind eye that has been turned toward the current administration's crimes over the past eight years. If some of the people in key positions in government ignored the crimes and let them go unquestioned or unpunished, maybe they also played a role or are just too intimidated for whatever reason to do anything about it. But, as an ordinary citizen, if you are not knowledgable and informed because you never bothered to do the research, you will vote, protest or debate irresponsibly. If you have researched the facts and listened to to the educated, unbiased experts and still refuse to acknowledge the truth, the you are in denial or a complete fool. In either case, I personally resent sharing a nation with you. I have said it over and over again to the people closest me...if there were a place that only rational, intellegent, logical and just people inhabited, I would gladly relocate to it. So, I suppose I would have to agree with the .OP

Because the political/idealogical divide between the Democrats and Republicans is far to wide; many Americans would be in full support such a separation.

However, the true picture of a Republican state woulde be:

- Unchecked State Government, leading to policies and laws enacted during Jim Crow and slavery period.
- Unchecked corporations and private companies, leading to rampant corporate and private business discrimination practices and corruption.
- No fair or equal housing laws
- No fair or equal hiring laws
- No Unions
- No payraises for working class and hourly workers
- Women would have no control of their own bodies and subject to forced childbirth
- No Religious freedom...Christianity the forced national religion
- Gays/alternative lifestyle individuals would either be killed or eliminated in the name of God
- Minorities would be unprotected
- No national government to keep state and local government "honest"
- All scientific research in opposition to EXTREMIST Christian/biblical/moral beliefs would be outlawed.

Such a Republican State would be destined for failure.

Okay folks, ever hear the phrase "United we stand, divided we fall"? If we did divide, do you realize how quickly we'd both be gone? We'd both be overtaken by some other country who could never provide us with the luxuires we will afford whether it be under McCain or Obama. Think about it. I don't need to post a link to some proof.
