Not sure what you mean by this statement since the Democratic base broadened considerably last night. And unions are growing w/ significant power in places like California & Nevada. The focus on working people is why Democrats won decidedly & what will sustain the party for years to come.

Republicans who demand independence from social conservatives & neocon madness will gravitated to Libertarianism & gain followers. There can not be a peaceful coexistence with ignorance & evangelicals will need to focus on staying in church not in the government.

Look at the numbers ;reported union membership is down.;not just in one or two states. I think Mccain is the sign of what the republican party sees in the future. No republican except the real neo conservatives will go libertian as some have already have gone there. The christian right will remain where it is because they have gotten what they want in the party. They could careless about many issues. That is why even Obama went to jewish leaders to give commitment to isreal. The Libertian and other third party showings indicate they have all loss strength and changed nothing in the election outcome. Sign that things havfe changed from when they might have made the difference.Republicans and democrats are n;t say this like tehy did in the past.

i disagree. republicans were so fearful of a democrat win they didn't sway toward barr, baldwin etc. i know many libertarians who voted obama because they were convinced he'd wind down the war. if the gop sticks to the mccain, dubya, guilliani, romney type candidate, they wont survive! 8 years of dubya did not/will not work! they have to go back to fiscal conservatism above all else and leave the social stuff to the states and everyones respective god!
