Of the 226 incidents discussed above, incidents involving intimidation and harassment rose from 44 to 101. Another significant increase was in the area of vandalism with incidents up from ten in 2006 to 21 in 2007. While there were two murders in 2007 that have anti-LGBT elements, readers will note that death is listed in three cases. The reason for this is that a transgender youth committed suicide after years of unending, relentless bullying ranging from emotional to psychological to physical abuse. The suicide of this young person demonstrates the irreversible impact hatred can have. TRIANGLE FOUNDATION - Hate Violence (http://www.tri.org/our-issues/hate-violence.html - broken link)
Plenty of people are tolerant, kind, loving and helpful.
But that doesn't sell newspapers, or grab attention on the nightly TV news. So we get fed, via the media, a steadily diet of outrageous acts of intolerance.
Doesn't mean everybody's that way.
I agree with you. Everybody is really intolerant these days.

Give it time, even those things will not deter a crowd from their demands. Rape and murder will be justified to those who revel in immorality, they will cling to it, embrace it and commit these acts as if they were as dutiful as opening a door as the courteous. Don't be surprised though that those who perpetuate such acts will also be those who have proclaimed to abhor them.
Good grief...How can you even think this?....Unreal!
Oh good Lord..... opposing parties have been doing this since day one of when elections began in the United States. All of a sudden anyone who didn't vote for Obama is racist and has no tolerance. Give it a rest already. Republicans don't like Democrats regardless of their skin color. OK????
Apparently you failed to read any of the links, the intolerance I posted was mainly from the Obama supporting crowd.
Pandamonium added some good links too. I am familiar with the boy in Oxnard as my brother lives in Ventura. A sad and stupid case indeed.

Because history has shown it to occur many times? That people can be hypocritical? Look at the KKK for instance, they murder and rape in the name of a higher good, yet they are nothing more than murderers and rapist. They rationalize their deeds because they think lesser of those they attack.
Is it so hard to believe that a certain hate for Christians could result in the brutality of them through murder and rape? Even Christianity misused by the immoral for purposes of power have done so in its name. This is nothing new, people are irrational when their hate or pursuit for personal justice becomes the foremost desire in their hearts.
Don't make the mistake of believing that any side is free of this corrupted manipulation and the execution of heinous deeds all in the name of "right".
