Other nations did not make good on their war-time debts to us from world war 1 which in part caused the great depression when they defaulted and did not pay, apparently they had a reset button. Not saying there is or will be one for us but I find it interesting.

After six months in the shelter, rations nearly depleted and remaining water tasting foul, Joe crawled slowly, deliberately ,up the two foot diameter pipe, and opened the hatch. From his mile high reinforced observatory he peered out across the landscape. In every direction he peered across the burned sun scorched fields, the leaves of summer piled evenly around each tree trunk the branches bent and knarled. As Joe assessed,- all he pervayed ,he grew limp in stature and in his best outstretched survivalist voice with wavering audability he quipped, "Reckon it would be alright fer ye to eat them thare seeds after all Jake".
